My brother has recently split from his wife of 20 years. He is trying to open a bank account so he can sort out his finances a bit.
Been to a couple of banks, but got turned away cos he has no household bills in his name, no picture licence ( but going to get one) and no passport. Also just moved back with my parents so also has a new address.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers

Pab, his best bet will be to stay with the bank they have baked with previously in order to build up some history and then shop around.
Most banks are pretty good at lending you an umbrella when the weather is fair.................

Thanks to both of you for that, but the problem seems to be lack of id, even with his present ( joint) account holders that he has been banking with for 20 odd years Apparently to stop money laundering Cheers

getting accounts for a Charity is rock hard now, even if you are already established or just want to change banks or whatever
The CAB might be able to help, as they soemtimes get acoc***s set upf or people without a fixed address, so they must know a way round it
