I have read quite a bit about this racist abuse, I was even at the game where it came across the tannoy at half time. But I honestly cannot remember hearing any abuse directed at a players colour. I'm not saying it doesn't go on but I stand just to the toilets side of the goal on the wakeman week in week out and just have not heard any. Sure their are some characters who like to heckle the keeper and defenders, but in my experience this is generally good humoured and at worst using crude language. So if people have heard this abuse, why hav'nt the culprits been identified and ejected ? or is this type of abuse coming from the stand side of the wakeman ?

well me n my chums move to behind the goal for the second half these days, and to be honest its not every game, but we do hear a bit. its usually some oldish man -who does look like he hasnt had a shower in his entire life( ) and he just shouts random crap, i always mention it to someone in reception after the game. Always try 2 get a snapshot of him on our phones so that we can really point him out 2 the club...but he always seees us trying

Pointing it out to Stewards has twice resulted in nothing being done.
Even directly identifying the people involved......says it all really.....
That included an occassion where the abuse at a black player actually resulted in the player responding (but in a most professional matter it has to be said).
Abusive Welsh taunts triggered the charge by the Swansea fans in the Wakeman End that Paul and Mitchell were caught up in. I know theSwansea fans were up for it whatever, but the opportunity was given, and what was said wasn't good humoured banter either.

as a steward on the riverside we are unable to eject a supporter for racism unless we are 100% certain which person it was, so unless another supporter can identify them and then back it with a statement then we as stewards cannot do anything unless we here it personally,

If you want to seek them out stand on a barrier look at the buffet area while the chant occurs you will see , or do you have no bottle to identify, get stuck in if you want to sort it, instead of turning your back.

as a steward on the riverside we are unable to eject a supporter for racism unless we are 100% certain which person it was, so unless another supporter can identify them and then back it with a statement then we as stewards cannot do anything unless we here it personally, On both occassions the person was identified to the steward concerned..... In the incident involving the abuse of the black player the steward said he had to see and hear it himself - he could not take our word or that of the many people around. He then turned his back on the guy concerned and watched the game before he moved on, thus not being able to do anything about it as he couldn't see it. He looked very uncomfortable at the idea of having to deal with it too.... Whilst there are good stewards, there are equally those there to see the game as a priority. This will always be the case when clubs rely on supporters of their team to help with stewarding - but of course the catch 22 is that many have no choice but to do so.
