Had a good day out today at Old Trafford. The game was decent - Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney were superb. Fair play to the Irish fans, they were very impressive

Will they have time to move the camp(suburb) that England built in the second half from the Irish end before United play again ....
Maybe for the game against Azerbajan ?? England should become the first International team to not pick a keeper

Sounded like the biggest cheer of the day came when NI had their one and only shot on goal after around 75 minutes. I wonder what the score would have been if we had taken one of our early chances because they fell to pieces after the 1st went in.

The 'easy' and 'are you Scotland in disguise' chants were great. The tie at Newcastle on Wednesday should be a goal-fest, fingers crossed. On a side point, no wonder United's profits are plummeting. They didn't have one piece of England merchanside on sale in the megastore today - what a wasted opportunity

I don't think they are allowed to sell any england merchandise to be honest. Thats why they sometimes have a go at all the private vendors all around the ground.

twas indeed a quality day highlights included... a poor old man getting on the train at Wrexham with a Wrexham jacket on (& a flat cap..) the banter between elderly groover and me about the organisation an eventful game of balloon ball on the second train (amazing what we'll get up to when we've got no beer!) enjoying incredible luck with the trams....twice they stopped with the doors right in front of us finding a pub in the centre of manchester called sinclairs.....4 pints of lager for £6!! having vicky 'yes but no' pollard sitting behind us at the match, you just wouldn't believe some of the stuff she was coming out with. at one point, she asked elderly groover if he was a Stoke Town fan reuniting with carter, gal and raymondo on the 8pm train home (we just made it after a sprint from subway) the police wondering why there was singing on the train when they had put Stoke, Cardiff, Wrexham, Hereford and Shrewsbury fans in the same carriage the only knob on the train was a hereford fan - are we suprised? and finallly, here's some pics: engvni.fotopic.net/c477950.html

A good win and we can only try to beat the team we are playing, but look at the teams in the group. Not a lot of quality in there so lets wait and see how we perform against the best in Europe before we get to carried away by yesterday.

did you guys come back via chester again? We got to Piccadilly about 6.30 and boards showed no signs to Shrews. Went to travel office and woman told us to go via wolverhampton. She couldnt tell me whether there were any trains from chester to Shrewsbury. Missed our connection at Wolves = back to Shrews at 9.30! The whole journey was a nightmare. we knew about the works at Whitchurch but had been told twice in the Station on friday that the 10.01 was the right train and then again at 7pm friday night I phoned national rail enquiries and was told the very same. Arrived at station 'mix-up with the database'. Feckin useless and as for the trams after. Lets have 1, 2 car, tram every 20 minutes shall we to pick up all those 0000's of fans waiting to get back into Manchester. Still Sam Platts before was good and the Match was good. Do you know who had the Shrewsbury flag opposite you in the North Stand?

Where abouts was the flag in the North stand? We were at the back of the 2nd tier but I couldn't see a Salop flag anywhere.

Im guessing from faginy's pics it would have been directly in front of you maybe a touch to the left.
It was draped over the 2nd tier hoarding.

Great day out but im feeling completely cream crackered today. Plenty of the golden fizzy stuff was consumed. As Wibbin said the trains were a joke, despite making several calls to british rail phone centre no-one there knew about the works going on in whitchurch. Trams in Manchester we not much better, long platforms then only two carriages turn up. Some other highlights include. Slying some beers off some Liverpool fans on the way between Chester and Manchester and not telling anyone else who were complaining of a being on a "dry" train. Suddenly being a parade of drunken Ulstermen walking up to the ground - they were a good bunch and gave it all for their team. Whilst having a meal in a mexican restaurant seeing Raymondo heading off to the toliets only to later hear he entered a room through a door with a sign saying "Seniorittas" on it thinking it was a toliet for old people Groover being told off by a female copper on the train. Apart from the length of the train journey the other bad point was having to share with a bunch of Hereford scummers
