... his pace Worked very very hard again last night as he always does and in some recent games he has found his scoring touch again ,but anyone else thinks he has lost quite a bit of his speed from say 3 years ago? On a couple of occasions last night he had a small start on the defender and was caught that surley wouldnt have happened 3 years ago Without that electrifying pace he has perhaps found his level in this divison Thoughts ?

this has been said on here before.i reckon he lost his pace has been lost in the gym.shortens the muscles doing legwork with weights.by the look of his legs he s done too much and has lost his only asset ,,his speed. He s only saying he wants to stop with Town cos nobody interested in him

I think he was a little rusty last night, however, their number 4 was a pretty quick bloke, he sometimes had a couple of yards to make up on Luke and still got to the ball first. One thing that really pee's me off though is why we still try and hit the ball to Luke 10 feet in the air when he's being marked by 6'5" monsters, it beggers belief. Plus some of the distribution to him is cruel, even a whippet couldn't catch some of the shyte being played to him, he must be getting pretty frustrated, but keeps working really hard. I thought Sheron's distribution was good, maybe drop him into midfield, last night our midfield was non existent.

Yes he has. Two years ago, luke could skin any defender at will, but not anymore. Other thing about luke i guess, is that 2 or 3 years ago, he was more or less unknown, so opposition teams didnt know what he could do, now of coarse everyone knows about him and knows how to deal with the threat. Still has to do too much work himself to get a goal scoring chance, doesnt get the same service that jemson provided.

I thought Sheron showed that he has a footballing brain last night - but as already said that is not what GP seems to want - we just hoof every clearance / pass(!?!) and expect Luke to win the headers - madness

Aint lost it half as much as a certain Mr Owen for England, his performances are now on a par with his personality......BORRRRRRRING
OK he scored but 1st half wasted chance and 2nd half when Cole put him in, almost laughable.
Get Defoe in.
But hey that just my opinion

Said it before and I'll say it again...the lads concentrating too much on his upper body strength with the amount of work he is putting in at the gym. The bulkier he gets the slower he gets...someone at the club should have a word with him...

Agree entirely that he has slowed down, as to why well thats up to Luke and the training staff to find out.
I wonder if he has been timed doing the length of the pitch, I believe Shankly timed his players every year to assess them. Have we got any stats on Lukey ?

He got himself a needless booking to earn his suspension. It's cost the club maybe a couple of points & himself a bit of form. Someone should have had a word with him about his discipline ages ago!
