Neither team showed any class. Too much rush football. First half Cambridge played the better football, were very organised at the back. We never got midfield support for the front two. Howie did well to save a header early on. Second half Langers replacing Sheron meant we had a mobile attacking force and we spent large periods in their half. Tolley clipped the ball on to the post and Langers should have had a cast iron penalty but the ref was poorly placed to see it. Altogether a poor spectacle for a crowd of over 5000. MOM Rodgers - ran his socks off and caused all sorts of problems.

There is no way Langmead should have had a penalty...

Very poor game with two very poor sides as the league table suggests, Cambridge had the better chances first half, shrews didn't have a shot on target until about the 50th minute. Second half Shrews were slightly the beter side.

It was a game which neither side wanted or could afford to lose.

Like a lot of people Geoff i like watching football whether its an under 11 game or a premiership game is that a simple enough explanation for you?

Agree Langmead made a difference when he appeared, so well done GP for that.
Thought OConner was very quiet tonight, we seemed to get a grip in midfield when sedge came on.
Some of the passing was woeful, maybe the ocasion got to them.
Worryingly 3 poor games on the trot....

Midfield is letting us down, little support to strikers, too slow to back them up and go foreward.
From the wakeman stand i thought kelvin went down "under pressure" from two defenders, but didnt look like either was fouling him.

Isn't going and watching your rivals a bit different though? Rivals Geoff? Tonight game is exactly what I expected, nervous battling affair, we we never going to be able to 'play' as the U's were always going to be throwing themselves at everything. Defo penalty, MoM shared between Luke and Stuart, Stuart really picked his game up in the second half and made some timely challenges, Luke worked his B***** off and kept his disipline very well. If we can battle like this for the rest of the season we will gain the points we need. Bally, Thanks for contributing ££ to our club

From the Wakeman - never a penalty. Nobody with a decent view thought so.

Looked a definite pen to me, and Langmead was livid at the referee at full-time; I couldn't believe it wasn't given.
I'm not surprised by the game. So many ties between clubs at the wrong end of the table at this time of the season are nervy affairs which often finish goalless.
I'll take it though, we battled hard and certainly deserved our point.

I may go to Telford on Tuesday night also. But I won't be moaning about the quality of football on offer because it'll just make me sound bitter and twisted.....

well for one thing the game was dull
But credit to GP for making the changes when needed for one and at least trying to get the game changed so we might sneek it
Questions must be rasied about Sedge gettting back in the midfield and the right wign solution - Tolley when he pushes out there is wasted in IMO as hes a cracking center player.
Could have worse - yes but still a poor resultbut one me might just about get away with this season!

Personally, I'd take Sedge over O'Conner and I hope he starts on Monday.
At the very least, he's mobile enough to put himself about a bit, can hold his own in the air and offers a genuine goalscoring threat with his shooting.
O'Connor undoubtedly tries hard and there's no questioning his commitment, but he's starting to look past it.

I'm a big fan of O'Connor, but for the last two games he's been well off the pace. Let's see Sedge back in the team on Monday

Second half Shrews were slightly the beter side. Thats as poor a match assessment as you will see. It wasn't a very poor game at all. It was an evenly matched game between two sides desperate not to lose. You are never going to get open attacking footie in those circumstances. I for one was enthralled with the tension and drama of it all right to the end and enjoyed the whole game as did the people around me. Sure, some goals would have made a difference but overall no one complain about value for money last night. And it definately wasn't a penalty on Langmead. Smack in front of me about 5 yards away. The ref got it right.

Careful Welshshrew some people don't think you are allowed to watch other matchs that don't involve your own team. And if that was a good game i'd hate to see a poor one

Anyone else noticed that the results and certainly the quality of football have dried up since the muppet O'Connor has returned to the fold. Sedge did more in 10 mins than O'Connor did in 80. Now if he went to Chester

Would have liked too win but as already stated neither side wanted to lose and the game reflected that. It does concern me that we looked far from potent as an attacking force and it looks like the tactic is too keep chipping away and picking up single points until we are out of reach with our rivals out of games.
Good crowd though. Fair result! 11 points out of 18 for Cambridge so a good mini revival for them.
Watching Kiddy with interest today and even Notts County who by all accounts are a poor side(and thats just their own supporters comments).
Personally Notts County at home will be the decider for me I think if we win that GP can start looking at contracts, not too many I hope we need a fair bit of new blood!! Especially in midfield and upfront!
