That should hopefully put off others from treating rules with such obvious disregard

Cole, Couple of weeks wages, Chelsea 1 days Interest on there money, Muriniho a pittence, not really that heavy in my opinion, in relative terms i got more than that for being parked 8 minutes over my parking ticket in london (£235), But cannot see any other way they were going to tackle it, it should be a UEFA law, it will be brought to court again as an appeal under the freedom of employment law and get recinded anyway....

Fair enough IMO.
Just for the record £100,000 is just under 4 weeks wages for Cole who earns £27K a week. Considering how good a footballer he is, he is actually underpaid compared to others of the world elite

Might not hurt them in the pocket, but it will make the less well off think twice in the future, the main bit is the points docking threat for next season against Chelsea is good.

Cole is an arse, plain and simple.
Sick to death of hearing him whinge about his contract and old pros saying he should be paid more.
The guy signed a 5 year deal which offered him security, he decided not to gamble on his career and has lost out financially, relaatively speaking.
Does not excuse him breaking rules to go and speak to his club's rivals.

I need some information here. Was it written into Cole's contract that he could not talk to other clubs who might be interested in signing him? If not surely any contracted player is open to talk with another club, after all it may lead to an approach to his club with a hefty bid which a club like Arsenal may find helpful in their bid to strengthen their squad in other areas. How much would Cole fetch? £20 million? That would buy several younger, future stars.

Chelsea like any club are meant to go to the potential selling club first...this they obviously didnt.
If I was Wenger I would stick a price on his head and offer him up, he obviously doesnt want to stay at Highbury and anyway Gael Clichy is a cracking Left back

If not surely any contracted player is open to talk with another club, No, it is as JP says. It would need a precadent on a par with the Bosman case to rule that this restriction is illegal. At the moment, the courts see it as 'reasonable', as otherwise the whole concept of contracts in football would be as dead as the European constitution.

Don't really understand the fuss.
I thought most transfer business was conducted this way from the top right down to the unibond division 1 ( I believe AFCTU were accused a number of times for approaching players without giving the respective clubs the one weeks notice)
I'm also struggling to see the differences between the Villa/Beattie case and this case where Villa were given a verbal warning.
I hope they appeal. The FA are a joke. A complete and utter joke. they can't even run their game properly. Footballs a mess and its their fault.

May be wrong here - but I don't think this has anything to with the FA. Fines were inmposed by an independent commission set up by the Premier League. Chelsea (and Cole) broke the Premier League rule book not the FA's!! However do agree with you - the FA can be a joke at times!!
