In the bord q & a it was said the ground is going to be one of the best of its type!!!! the lowering of the roof was not cost cutting and to make it less obstructive !! well if its the best of its type why not show it off make it high light it up at night let every one see it.you can see Stokes ground from miles away they are proud of it even if its now where nere full so why are we trying to hide ours? If its going to be one of the best of its type what type are we building.. It should be somthing the whole county should be proud of and shown off .

Stadiums with no roof = no atmosphere
Camp Nou for instance. All the sound goes away.
There was more noise when we played Burton away last year than in your average Barça game.
I'll be happy if it can be a stadium that, with time, we can identify ourselves and our club with.
Couldn't give a s**t about what the country thinks

it is purely to save money on Steel, which is fair enough

Agree entirely with Aleix, we dont get the biggest attendances so we need to maximise volume. Our near neighbours AFC Telford under 12's get good acoustics from their home end, now if they can do that with a couple of hundred fans imagine what we should be able to do !
On the other side of the coin, we should look at Oxfords 3/4 finished stadium, it looks great but noise is minimal due to very high roofs and ground often 1/2 empty. We should take heed of that.

Well, Keith's answer on ask the board was that the Planning Officers brought the matter to their attention that it was a bit obtrusive so they have made it smaller.
Nothing to do with costs Keith says.

I agree with Bill on this one...there were a thread not long back which showed a picture of a very fine 10,000 stadium over in Scandinavian country (can't think where it was or the name of the stadium) and I mentioned then that if you can build a show piece, aesthetically pleasing, modern stadium that the club and town could be proud then you wouldn't wish to hide it away some place out of view...
Stadiums as like any other building or structure can be easy on the eye...

I find it very difficult to believe that having granted planning permission a couple of years ago the planning officers suddenly got cold feet about the stands being too high
especially as it will soon be surrounded by a huge commercial development anyway

come on then man in the know... what has Graham told you ? Graham who? Michael Owen (Councillor) called at my house election campaigning. We discussed certain aspects regarding the New Meadow who stated " the football club are struggling to satisfy several criteria regarding the 106 agreement". It is looking like the earliest these issues may be closed will be the end of June. MO did also have a pop at the club for dragging their feet but then he would say that wouldn't he. I believe the height of the stadium is being used as a negotiating tool to close certain issues.

" the football club are struggling to satisfy several criteria regarding the 106 agreement".. I thought the business with the 106 (not that i have the faintest idea what it is), had been sorted

We were led to believe at an earlier meeting with the club (was it Umbrella Group) that the problems with the 106 were with the 106 on the Gay Meadow not the New Meadow....

Well I am told there is an ongoing issue regarding the entrance, and traffic managenent which includes positioning of the traffic lights etc, and that is just one issue.

Information keeps seeping out.
It is really not a very good way to keep the fans informed.

I have no idea about this kind of stuff, but surely this stuff was "planned" when the "plans" where put together, now that the "plans" have been approved, WTF is the problem. As an ignorant bystander, it seems to me that somebody doesnt have the fiantest idea what they are doing. Or is it a case that "somebody" is just being obstructive.

To be honest if I was going to lay any fault at STFC I think it is time they came out clean with all the facts and not selective information. I can understand why they are not but councillors will talk and especially with the council elections upon us it gives them the opportunity to come out with all kinds of spin.
I think the response on the Q&A Ask the Board has been very poor. I may not have personally put in a question, but I know some questions that have been asked by others where the answers are evasive. The result of this is more negativity and it's about time Roland Wycherly stopped hiding behind Keith Sayfritz and set the record straight for once. After all the efforts supporters have also put in themselves, it is the least he could do.

Maybe this is all what Bill Wingrove is working on at the moment? Once he's back off the sick. Get well soon Bill. You're up front with Sheron tomorrow night.

What happens if - Jennings buy the Gay Meadow and own it - build half a New Meadow,
then go bust =
the club have no groud.
So the bank lending the money insist on a collateral warrenty (insurance scheme basically) to be put in place, which I believe it has.
Contracts to start work to be signed next Thursday I believe.

to think of the way Third world football has progressed in Africa with the new grunds they have, and we are still thinking of the Ghost of The New Meadow.shows the real problems about our county and the people in charge of getting things done correctly. The whole situation is a farce and by delaying the development incures more costs the club and its fans cannot afford.less Pie In The Sky and more action please from those people responsable.the time for talking must end and the time for building must begin,or builders and lawyers will be the only ones to benefit.
