My old Aunty from Telford has been ringing me up all day- very upset. She has a soft spot for unwanted cats- and one she adopted called "Tommy", a semi-feral very old Tom with a chewed ear, had gone missing.
She couldn't go looking for him, she's not in good health at all- so asked neighbours.
The next thing, she hears that some unknown person has found the cat, picked him up and informed the RSPCA that they'd found a cat- and he was taken to Wrekin View vets in Wellington- where they put him down.
My Aunty rang the vets to ask about him- only to be treated very coldly and they insinuated that the cat hadn't been cared for properly.
I KNOW that he HAS. My Aunty is a widow with no children- these cats are like babies to her- and they are all spoilt- but old Tommy had got VERY old and cats tend to go thin when they age, no matter what they eat.
Anyway, I rang up the vets and talked to the vetinary nurse.
On top of losing her "old friend"- this vet had really upset her.
My daughter's neighbours also had a bad experience with a vet telling her off about the condition of a guinea pig, when the woman simply hadn't understood what was wrong with it.
I know they really care about animals- but I think they should be more sensitive to the owners. Why on earth would my Aunty have rung up the vet in Wellington anyway, if she hadn't cared?
Anyone else had a bad experience with vets?

not so much a bad experience WITH vets, but Ive had to have 2 dogs put to sleep, one while my wife was away.
Both times were very upsetting, and its probably the worst job I have ever had to do.
Nothing is quite as upsetting as bringing a lead and collar home from the vets.

I've also had problems with vets (both different and both in Wellington). My wife's cat turned out to have lukemia, but before realising this the vets strung us along for months coming up with all sorts of excuses for the cats ill health. We wern't looking after her properly, we weren't feeding her the right food etc etc. We were made to feel quilty and paid hundreds of pounds too.
More recently, we had one of the kittens fall down the stairs. Goodness knows what exactly happened but there was blood everywhere. The emergency vet said it was quite clear someone had kicked her badly and that they were going to get in touch with the RSPCA and report us. Two days later we her to our usual vet who said there was no bruising, infact no significant damage whatsoever. They said there was a little mark which had clearly been left by our other kitten. This was what had caused the bleeding. We were made to feel like s**t for no reason.
