Given Friday is a Bank Holiday, why is the match an evening kick off? What is wrong with three o'clock in the afternoon so us Shrews fans who live a long way away can get there and get back?

An afternoon kick off would attract a lot less fans.

Unfortunately not everyone will have Friday off work. The club has to play to satisfy the largest amount of people it can. There's only a few STFC exiles compared to the majority of town fans who attend home matches who live in Shrewsbury or surrounding areas. The evening kick off will suit a majority of people and will generate a much larger crowd than an afternoon kick off

Good Friday isnt as recognised as a bank holiday as it once was. I doubt we would get 3k if it was a 3pm Ko

An afternoon kick off would attract a lot less fans. Why? A bank holiday is just like a Saturday except that public transport is worse. If what you say is true, then evening kick-offs on Saturdays would attract more fans. Good Friday is worse than a Saturday for an evening kick off because it is harder to get home for many people who rely on public transport. A lot more people would be able to get to the match and get home with an afternoon kick off.

Meant to add that Shrewsbury traditionally get good crowds for Friday night games and that tied with it being a Bank Hol should increase turnout. I note that there are games going ahead at 15:00 though and am now contemplating Bury V Grimsby followed by Salop V Cambridge......

Friday evening games tend to have a good atmosphere. Here's looking forward to it. And Steve, save up and buy a car, much better than relying on the shít that is public transport
