Well, the target is 50 points. To actually need that number of points, R&D need to grab 13 points from their last 8 games or Kidderminster need 18 points from their last 8 games (taking goal diff into account). If we grab ourselves 3 points in Friday's battle, then I think we'll be 3 points short of safety. Friday will be massive. Let's get 5,000+ in the Meadow and crank it up like Kiddie and Chester matches

48 points is the highest points total for a team relegated from this division. That being Gary Peters' Exeter side in 2002/3 47 points will "probably" be enough this time. So 2 more wins and 3 winnable home games in which to get them. The historical aspect of that Sc***horpe fixture is still a worry though.

Lose on Friday night and it's going to be a long few weeks.
Win, and we could be almost sure of safety by the first weekend in April.
Who wouldn't have taken that in October (or even in August?).

I know this is all hypothetical but I'm gonna give it a shot.
Let's go team by team:
Cambridge:
Are screwed.
Salop, Southend, Swansea, Darlo, Scunny, Rochdale, Rushden and Notts Co.
I can only see them picking up points in the last two games. All the rest are battling for promotion and won't be lying down.
Marginal points: 3-5
Kidderminster:
Darlo, Mansfield, Wycombe, Bury, Yeovil, Boston, Grimsby and Northampton.
Possible point against Stags, Bury and Grimsby with optional point against Yeovil (so inconsistent!!!!) Marginal points: 4-6
Rushden
Lincoln, Grimsby, Bristol Rovers, Boston, Darlo, Cambridge, Macclesfield.
Won't get results versus Lincoln, Darlo or Macc. The remaining 4 games could get them enough points for safety.
Marginal points: 5-8

There is only one way to get ourselves safe and that is to win every game. We shouldnt be paying any attention to those around us.

It's inevitable to look at those around us. Maybe 3 points on Friday and a couple of results going our way would make us take our eyes off them. But don't want to be needing points against Swansea and Sc***horpe

Thing is Aleix, you say Cambridge are screwed yet they beat a very inform team today so there might not be as bad as you say.
The perfect example is Yeovil 0 Bury 1
How the hell did that happen?

Cambridge W 3 D 2 L 3 lately, not relegation form. It'll be very tough on Friday night.

Agree to a certain extent Pab, but if we are talking about survival (which we all are) then you have to look at teams around you. And that's why I think a win on Friday and 3 more points will be enough. If we are talking, as Gary P does, about trying to change the mentality of the playing side at this club then I'd also like us to win our last 8 games, which would leave us on 65 points, just short of the play-offs. ;D

Why is everyone hyping the game up?
What do we have to be scared of??
Recently Cambridge have beaten mediocre teams like Cheltenham, Oxford, and today Wycombe, and any team that loses to Kiddy must be sh!te.

Would that be the "mediocre" Wycombe side that is second in the current form league. ?

I saw nothing special in them at the Meadow...

Most teams have looked "nothing special" at the Meadow this season, on that basis we shouldn't be concerned about any of the remaining games.
