The fans at the fans game at there place were 100% sure they were going bust or into admisnistration and thus out of the league!
Now they have been saved were going to have to get them relegated fair and square!!!
Bugger!!

amazingly generous,
I'm gobsmacked, cant get my head round it, but absolutely delighted for the Rushden fans, if mildly worried about the relegation fight now
Just checked their official site-
states that should the transaction go through the club will not be bined to the sponsorship dealwith Dr.Martins, which means they can gain new sponsors and more £sss.
Bloody hell, what a legend

well **** me, you people need a little history lesson...
Max Griggs wanted to buy NTFC (with his money wish he had) but we said no, something bout him wanting no other board members so in reaction he said ok i will set out and make a club twice the size of yours, so off he went. Merged together Rushden United and Irthlingborough Diamonds...Rushden and Diamonds. Built them a nice stadia and sponsored them with his own company. They get to the stage of being a bigger club than ours. At this stage it was us who were deep in financial problems and there fans said they would s**t or put fag ash in any buckets we to there ground in order to save our team, which incedentally is 10 times older than theres.
Then when the going got tough last season and Griggs business lost a bit of popularity he decided he had simply had enough, and bang when there manager now at Oldham, there star striker Onandi Lowe left for Cov and was done for drugs 2 weeks later and half there players. The REASON he has been seen to be generous to the fans is that he put them up for sale well over a year ago and no-one wanted to seriously buy them and could sustain them financially so he gave the club and some money to the fans, he can now wash his hands of the whole situation.
The sad thing is that 90% of there fans used to support us or other local side Kettering, in the wake of there success we suffered attendance drops and so did they, nearly sending us out of football, until King Tony Cardoza saved us.
He's not a nice man at all, well unless you would call creating a team in spite then nearly ending TWO LOCAL sides because of it
There, thats off my chest
Max Griggs = tw@

Not too disimilar to Andy Shaw at Telford then, in respect of pouring money down the drain to spite another club
The fact is that Rushden and Irthlingborough between them do not have the population size or history to sustain a football club at this level
The supporters trust is a great way forward and I wish them well but it will be very very tough
Their stadium and facilities is nearly as silly as Darlington in terms of looking nice but not being what they actually need

Exactly, they are a team made up of two villages which just does not add up we all know how important a trust is at NTFC as we were one of the first to have such a thing thanks to a friend of mine Brian Lomax who now goes around clubs nationwide helping set up these trusts....he said he would NEVER help the village idiots though. There fans didnt ever think they would be in this much trouble, believed last season they would walk all over everyone in this league and made the feelings very well known on out message board, saying there the top team in Northants...MY ARSE you all know of our experience as you had Telford, at least they went bust before getting too big though

regardless,
he is palnning on handing over a new ground, with a bar,a shop, a restaurant and corporate lounges/whatever they are called.
As well as 22 acres of land (to be developed?)
The ground holds 6,500 or something, and they average about 3,000 (with away fans)
I'm sorry but i disagree, they have the facilities to make ago of things, they also have plenty of land for the future and no doubt they will still have free use of the sports facilities.
And reguardless of what you think of him, its a remarkable gesture/offer, £15/£16 million being handed over?
Oh and no one is forcing him to cough up £1million over the next two seasons to keep the club going.

i know its a very good gesture...does not make up for setting the last 15 years of his life on making us and Kettering bankrupt. AND its not a million pounds its 750k 500k this season and 250k next, most football clubs would have sold after a year on the market or even had someone reported to be interested...but not them and when he announced it he told fans it was so the club could continue climbing the league they belong in the conference and are poor enough financially and playing wise to go back there BYE BYE DIAMONDS
