Bridge??? Think Downing will get a crack, and if he doesnt it'll be SWP. Am unsure what statement you're trying to make... Rooney does the business on the international stage reguardless of his club form, and Owen appears to be scoring goals despite the fact he starts from the subs bench.

Beckham, dont see how you can drop him yet still keep in Bridge, who has not looked convincing on the left side of midfield for England.

Scholes? My wife won't be happy if you miss him out. She loves the little ginger fella.

3 5 2 for me Robinson Ferdinand Terry Campbell Wright-Philips Lampard Beckham Gerrard Rooney Owen Defoe That is a decent side but I wouldn;t want to rely too heavily on the defensive prowess of Rooney and SWR Going to back to Bridge, unless Downing continues to progress I cannot see an alternative Beckham has done little for England since his goal against Greece, partly because he often plays through injury

on current form, surely defoe or smith would be in instead of rooney
and bridge was dropped for quite a few games from left back for chelsea.
downing would have to be left wing on current form
wouldn't say gary neville is particuarly in form, but i can't think of another right back.

Retired from International Football s**te, I'd forgotten that. This is the problem living here, all I regularly hear about is how ace Zlatan is and how many minutes Anders Svensson played at the weekend and how Johansson played for Wigan reserves.

Feel SWP deserves a try in his own position, dont play him on the opposite side then slate him (the press not you) if it doesn't work. If a good player can play either side as many claim put him on the right and switch Beckham to the left. Personally however as a long time Beckham fan I feel that his form for England does not justify his inclusion in any position.

Iwhats wrong with also trying SWP out on the left??? why not play Beckham on the left then? That is why Bridge / Downing are the only options

SWP has played on the left for Man City before.
Scholes and Lampard have been played on the left before, so why not give a try to one of our most promising players.
Gerrard and Lampard are guaranteed central midifield, Beckham on the right.
I agree Downing should be given a chance, buy why play a left back at left midfield just because he's left footed, he's offered no attacking flare nore given us much shape when he's played there.

I don't believe England's problem is the team selection, despite the endless coverage given to it.
