Got this e-mailed to me yesterday, looking fliping quality... Hello there! This is a short note to invite your Shrewsbury supporters team to join us for the 3rd European Supporters Cup, that will be played in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday, 28th May 2005, involving a mix of supporters teams from all over Europe in a friendly, but competitive atmosphere. As in the two previous editions, teams from all over Spain and Europe are invited to take part, dressed (we insist) in the colours of the club or national side they support – followed by a meal and trophy presentation for all teams taking part. The games are played at Spanish first division club RCD Espanyol's excellent training facilities, with high quality artificial pitches, not far from the city centre. We’re offering an all-inclusive package offering three nights in a hotel in the city centre, transport between the airport, hotel and ground, bilingual guidance, all tournament costs (pitches, referees, admin, medical assistance, trophies, etc) and an all-you-can-eat-and-drink gala meal after the tournament – all that for just 300 euros per person, or 250 per non-playing guest (that’ll be the wives and girlfriends then). As well as the football, there are always plenty of other things to see and do in Barcelona, and the weather is usually great in late May (and there is a terrific beach in Barcelona). You will get the chance to see RCD Espanyol’s last game of the season at the Olympic Stadium – the way things are going this year, European qualification is a very real possibility, and although FC Barcelona are playing away, there is a chance that they will win the league that weekend, and there will be some amazing celebrations. Music fans will be interested to know that the Primavera Sound festival will be held that weekend, which always includes some big name bands. It’s a great tournament, where the football is taken seriously, but where we also like to make sure that everybody has a cracking time off the pitch as well – and what better place than Barcelona to do it! For more information, you can reach us at info@salbcn.com, or have a look at our web site at www.salbcn.com. Look forward to hearing from you soon!

How much is 250 euros? Guess there is the cost of the plane and food, drink etc so might get a bit procey for some??

Supporters European Cup - Quality lads!! I'm deffo up for that!!! 28th May is my birthday as well!!! It's also the bank holiday weekend!!
I also went to the primavera festival last weekend whish is also a great festival - last year ther was the pixies, franz ferd, scissor sisters, the fall, lloyd cole is a great setting of a mock spanish village...
The price is a bit steep though.... 300 euros about £208 - flights we could get for about £80-£100 if we're quick - I presume it's eleven a side???

Personally I think every Team who have been invited should tell them where to stuff the competition.
Perhaps then the people of Spain, mainly those that boo certain foreign players will understand it is not acceptable.
If every supporters team that has been invited did this it may just make them think a little.

300 euros is about £210 250 euros is about £175. You will be looking at least £100 per person if you are flying with Easyjet or Ryanair which are usually the cheapest. You also MUST have a passport

Might be more realistic to enter next year. If you got names of people who wanted to go now they could then pay £30 per month for a year.
This would cover cost of the trip and some spending money. Also if you know earlier the date of the touranment the flights would be cheaper.

It's worth seeing what the response is to the thought of going this year. I personally would go but obviously it depends what others want to do.

Would be interested but it needs to be raised at next weeks training session for us to chew it over, have they indicated numbers needed?
Although cutting the costs of flying is an option, for the hassle involved your better off paying the full whack.

I reckon there'll be spaces for non-ASFC regulars Stutty - I'm hoping for another e-mail back shortly from the organisers with full details so will keep everyone updated on here. It really would be just total quality - lets hope we can get a squad together....
Ant, Carter, True Shrew, Gallon, Stutty, Trickey, Pricey, Catalan...
There's a potential 8!! Only another 3 needed to get a bare 11 (prob need some subs though!!)

Are you taking the p**s? I hope so. Surely the people organising this are not the ones who are involved in the abuse, or even condone it. Sounds like a great idea and I would take part in a flash. I was been totally serious, hence the lack of I think the Spainish FA and the national manager stink. They hand down laughable fines and the national manager seems to think it normal to abuse people because of the colour of there skin. As for the people organising this event I would be very interested to hear there views on the people who make these odscene noises at Football managers. Because just after the England friendly in Madrid Hawksbee and Jacobs on Talksport had a Spainish Sports Writer who was also chairman of a local supporters group for a Premier Liga club (Malaga) who tried to justify the 'Monkey noises' on the programme. He said most Spainish football fans saw nothing wrong in it. I would like to think he was wrong and I do not want to hijack this thread so I will stop now. Just dont ask me to come over to run the line
