...we won the most important match in our history, at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke! So many memories. What are some of yours? I went on away supporters mini bus, and celebrated in stoke for a couple of hours after only to discover one of the stoke locals had stolen the keys from the mini bus ignition ( oops ) I rang, harmerhill shrew who had long left us and almost home , he travelled to Oswestry to pick up a spare set and fetched them out to us, he was a bigger hero than Scott Howie ;-)

Has Luke's penalty come back to earth yet?

I doubt it!
We took my mother and of course when the Challis penalty went in we all jumped up and down while she sat there and pointed at the signs which said remain seated!!!!

At the time, I was working and living in Stafford; I took my daughter to her first football match, and she enjoyed the experience, if only she detected my own pleasure at the result.

I had just had a shoulder opp so my arm was in a sling. Some rogue ball (probably from Luke) hit my shoulder full pelt it was agony. It's the only thing luke hit the whole game. Dreadful game Magnificent result

Aldershot were the better team over the 90 minutes but we looked more likely to pinch it during extra time. Only when I watched the penalties back later did I realise how far Howie was off his line - he must have looked massive to their penalty takers. I was quite close to the Aldershot end and after Howie's third save (and even before the Challis penalty) their hooligan element kicked off and filed out of the exits while fighting a running battle with the police. Check out the video to see a very fresh-faced schoolboy (Joe Hart) on our bench. As others have said not a great game but probably one of the most important ones in our history and I dont ever remember feeling happier as a Town fan than when seeing that final penalty go in.

It was an awful game of football but the result was all that mattered. I've watched it back several times on DVD and even knowing the outcome doesnt make the game look any better.
I remember it was stifling hot that day, very different to todays weather.

It’s the heat that is my main memory, plus admiration for the players who kept running for 120 minutes In those conditions.
I never rated Tolley as a footballer but he was an impressive athlete.

I remember that the Aldershot goalie Bull harboured a very big grudge against us for what happened.

Wow, where has the time gone?! Was on my honeymoon in Canada, listened in an internet cafe at goodness knows what time of the morning!

Watched it in a pub in Cobh, County Cork on Sky! All the locals buying me drinks after as they had never met a Shrewsbury Town fan before and they were delighted that we won!
