Benning Price (move heaven and earth to keep) Udoh (likewise) Sraha (at a push another year) If there's anybody sniffing after bayliss and we get some sort of nominal fee and some Christmas chocolates then trigger his extension. Jettison the rest. Pleased to see myself and hurst more or less on same wavelength. Chaff cut. Doubt marosi and dunkley remain. Looking forward to 5 positive well scouted loan youths and some hardworking additions.

Already a touch of tension between Moore and Hurst listening to the interviews over the last two weeks. Hurst has been clear that he’s bringing in his players, can’t see how that works with Moore identifying and providing options. Sounds to me like Hurst isn’t going to be told who to sign and Moore is relegated to the guy getting the contracts and paperwork signed. That's why I said in the other thread to get rid of Moore, there was tension when Hurst joined as it completely underminded his position. He is now a glorified secretary / scout. We won't get rid as it'll cost us money.

Youngsters Nana Owusu, Josh Bailey and Declan Hutchings will also be moving on to a new challenge.

I can only see Aaron Pierre and Mal Benning staying out of the "we would like to retain" list too which would leave us very low on quality.

That was very quick. Paul Hurst must want to be quickly rid of so many of them to let it out on the same day we finish the season.
And it obviously showed in the performance of many today that they were going.
Wasnt keen on Hurst coming back, but he is spot on sorting this out so quickly. Look forward to seeing who is coming in, hopefully start signing them nice and quickly.

Slightly surprised about Pierre, but could’ve predicted the rest. I think Marosi will have plenty of offers, but hopefully the others sign.
I’d like to think that we can offload a few of the lads under contract as well. Get Idowu and Mata sent out on loan with a contribution to wages for a start.

We need to get Idowu and Mata gone. there're simply not good enough. Surprised about Dunkley and Pierre i don't rate Dunkley at all. With Feeney and Benning we could potentially keep most of are defense which have been poor all season.

'We will be looking to retain: Marko Marosi, Mal Benning, Aaron Pierre, Chey Dunkley and Dan Udoh' - No mention of any contract extensions for those it might have applied to. Perhaps it should read 'We will be looking to retain' on our terms to suit the budget: Marko Marosi, Mal Benning, Aaron Pierre, Chey Dunkley and Dan Udoh?

Sobowale and Bennet shock me out of them and disappointed with sobo not being offered, good that alot of the under performers are gone but feel it's a big challenge for Hurst now

Udoh deserved an offer.
Marco deserved an offer.
Benning completely made me do a 180 on him at the end of the year and deserves his offer based on the complete effort to the cause.
Really surprised Hurst wanted to keep Dunkley around, for me he's been part of the problem this season.

Wonder if there is an element with Marosi, Dunkley and Udoh to show willing to retain even if they know it's unlikely. Would be surprised if any more than 1 of them stayed.
Pleased for Benning, much deserved.
Can only assume Pierre is cheap as don't think he's a consistent enough league one centre back any more.
Disappointed about Tunmise. Not surprised about the rest.
Looking forward to seeing what the summer brings

Benning was absolutely atrocious for months, but his form during the second half of the season has been outstanding so I really hope he stays. Bayliss has been bloody awful this season. I'd have kept Sobowale and Bennett, both are useful and can do a job and with the right coaching and some time on the pitch I could see a reasonable player in Sobowale. Bennett was the absolute epitome of professionalism, surely he's close to being the hardest working player we've ever had.
Doubt Dunkley or Udoh will be short of offers elsewhere, but, actually, I'm pleased the club have done this so quickly and I trust Hurst to get decent replacements in, and after such a mediocre season none of us can pretend this squad is anything other than abject, so good riddance to most of it.

Dunkley with his back to goal coming on to the ball is great...facing our goal he is just about average..like most centre halves....but the back 3...4...or 5 has not been settled all season.

I think offering Pierre is smart business.
Considering how little football he played, he was thrown straight in & put in some solid performances.
Defensively he is solid, wins his duals & a threat from set pieces.
I was always expecting Hurst to offer him a deal in the summer as it was quite a big statement throwing Pierre in away at Northampton in his first game.
Wages wise I can’t see Pierre costing us much & remember we are going to need 4 CB’s minimum in squad…

Yes, looking forward to the summer, with our settled management team. Plenty of player movement to come, now is not the time to rip up the management structure.

Can't fault any of these decisions. Hurst has shown he understands the brief.
There'll be someone else singing this year's Christmas song, however... best of luck with whatever comes next, Harry!

Yeah I think PH will view Pierre as a cheap and experienced centre half who he knows he can rely on after his solid performances before his injury. No complaints from me.

Dunkley with his back to goal coming on to the ball is great...facing our goal he is just about average..like most centre halves....but the back 3...4...or 5 has not been settled all season. He doesn’t work in a back 4 like hurst wants, next to two technical players where he can just be a monster wall of a centre back able to clear the long ball he’s fine. The problem with him is he’s so limited beyond that. He’s probably been the worst for giving the ball away all year and being unable to retain possession. How many times has he had the ball passed to him, he plays it sideways or backwards, gets it back then spoons it back to the other team’s goalkeeper? He’s not comfortable in a back four, he’s also not the kind of centre back leader who can drag a backline together against the odds to a clean sheet. All season he’s been darting filthy looks at the rest of his teammates, hardly leadership we want from a captain. Case in point when we’ve been down to ten men- Galvanise, show support when someone clears the ball or support them by helping them out. I know he’s massive, and fans like how he can win everything in the air but beyond that he’s not the player we need him to be.

There's a decent player in there somewhere with Bayliss, but he's only got himself to blame. Can see him succeeding elsewhere if this is the kick up the backside it really should be.

Really disappointed that Bennett is not being retained. Expect Hurst is too, but retirement comes to all of us. If we had the money there would surely be a job of some sort with us offered?
