According to you, yes. For me, she's a self appointed mouth peace for persecuting a minority group. Each to their own opinion. I think she’s the one being persecuted or hounded for speaking views which I believe the majority of people hold, against a vociferous minority.

I think it’s a stretch to consider her a’ self appointed mouthpiece’ on this subject. I don’t believe she has ever purported to represent anyone other than herself. She is an internationally recognised public figure, she has held robust opinions on a range of social issues throughout her career- which she is entitled to put forward. There is no compulsion for anyone to agree with her at all. I think she is a pretty easy target for those of a differing opinion.

Well, if she doesn't want to be "persecuted or hounded" she could just SHUT UP! But why though? Why should she shut up? She’s entitled to offer her view, as you are also allowed to do, and are. Issues seldom get a positive airing if one side of the debate is subject to censorship.

Issues seldom get a positive airing if one side of the debate is subject to censorship. She doesn't have to shut up of course. But she, and her followers, have to accept that people will challenge her, and have as much right to challenge her as she has to pipe up in the first place.

I'm delighted with the review.
I agree Rowling and Davies are finally being recognised for their stand on the issue.
People have had their careers destroyed for stating clear scientific facts.
The big court case in Australia will be another watershed whatever the outcome is because of the way the debate has unfolded.
I want everyone to be respected and be able to live out their life decisions freely.
That includes people who disagree a biological male is a woman.
More than that though, anyone who thinks it is right that a 58 year old male with a penis should share a changing room with my 12 year old daughter is a danger to our society.
The transgender movement has undone years of positive work in women's sport and safeguarding.
I spent my early adult years as a Christian hearing the new atheists scream at every opportunity "what about the science".
Now this bizarre identity cult keeps making more and more outlandish claims and demand and I just hoped one day someone, somewhere would shout out "what about the science".
So much of it fails it's own definitions but they call you a bigot for pointing it out.
There was an article on the BBC praising a footballer at the women's world cup for being the first openly non binary player. I don't get it. That's not a scientifically identifiable thing and if that person is no longer a woman why are they playing at the world cup? At least they were female biologically, so as not to have unfair advantage, but even so. If non binary is a thing you don't qualify for women's things.
Moving on. It's their identity it's not a mental health issue. But if action is denied them then they might kill themselves. Suicidal thoughts and tendencies are the absolute pinnacle of the definition of a mental health issue. It fails it's own definition.
It's a awful thing that young people feel trapped in the wrong body, and they need protection, care, acceptance and kindness. If they get put on puberty blockers, have surgery, they're going to need multiple surgeries and hormone therapies their entire life. Who wins? Big pharmaceutical companies who provide the drugs and services. In the USA for profit.
I'm hoping the NHS response becomes a watershed across the world not just in the UK.
Our children need protecting. From adults who intend to harm them. From social projections that make them feel unworthy. And sometimes even from themselves. The idea you can't vote, you can't buy a lottery ticket, but you can chemically castrate yourself permanently, the last society to do that in big numbers was Nazi Germany. No sane person would ever consider that to be a good bit of advice to give a child.
But to even dare to say that makes you a bigot, a TERF, all the rest of it, but the majority of the transgender movement are angry males. Are they the best people to define what a woman actually is and feels?

As for transgender in general, homosexuality has become mainstream, it's almost a prerequisite for being a Tory MP, but transgender doesn't enjoy the same tolerance. That's because homosexuals aren't demanding in law that they are regarded as straight.

There's male and female toilets, but the showers are communal.

That's not really the issue. At Meole Brace as part of a damning Ofsted the teenage girls felt unsafe in the unisex toilets which I believe have now been closed. That's one thing that should be reassigned.

I think Rowling has been an absolute hero on this issue All credit to her and others like Sharon Davies The Cass report demonstrates there is no scientific evidence for giving puberty lockers to children or permanently altering their bodies and Rowling is right in her desire to keep men out of women sports and spaces What do JK and Sharon actually know about the subject? They are only listened to because of their fame. What axe does JK have to grind, have transgender issues ever actually affected her? I don't think they have claimed to be experts but they are two high profile women who don't agree with the trans movement/ideology (whatever you want to call it) and have refused to change their view, that is their crime and why certain sections of society claim they are hate figures, etc. I won't pretend to know all the in's and out's but when I see people refuse to say what a woman is or even refuse to use the term 'woman' and instead use terms like 'people who menstruate' or 'anyone with a uterus ' because they don't want to offend a tiny percentage of society, then I can understand why (some) women are frustrated with the trans movement. Rowling and Davies have a platform, they choose to air their frustrations because I suspect many people don't have one and even if they did, they fear saying anything because of receiving the level of abuse that Rowling & Davies do. Incidentally, my view (purely anecdotal) is that most trans people don't get offended by these things, they want to live their life in peace and have far bigger things to worry about. Like a lot of things in life, much of the controversy is caused by protesters/activists who get offended on their behalf and also businesses who try and show the world they are caring/compassionate/welcoming but go too far and alienate the majority to please the minority

Sponsorship starting to happen. Women's events starting to interest the press etc. Grass roots programmes aiming at developing women. Now all those spaces can be dominated by people born male and that's wrong. Women campaigned long and hard for any sense of fairness and it got taken from them by men again. Athletics scholarships in the USA, taken by males. Records set by males. Podiums dominated by males. Which was why there was women's sport in the first place.

Athletes who go through puberty as a male and then transition to female retain male musculature and strength which is an obvious advantage when competing in explosive power events against females.
This has been a problem in track cycling and resulted in a ban for transitioned ‘females’.

There are numerous professionals who have hounded out of there posts for daring to say what the findings of this report now say, I hope they can now be reinstated and it has taken far to long to get to this point. Hopefully the tide is turning. Not sure if you have seen this reported over the weekend but hopefully another important step, its worth a read... Social worker suspended over gender critical views awarded £58,000
Just appears that an awful lot of activists now find themselves in influential and powerful positions and are forcing this alt-left horses**t on everyone else and up to yet, have got away with much of it by using that influence and power to silence anyone who happens to disagree. Hence why we have seen these harmful and regressive ideologies take hold in schools, in the workplace, in the charity sector, the civil service and more places besides. Again, we have to be thankful that a number of people are brave enough to stand up and push back. Hope springs eternal...👍
