What we have missed out on with RW being owner for so long is turning into a Chester, Hertford or Telford. You only have to look at once well League clubs now in the National League and how long some of them have been there to realize what could have happened without him as owner and supporter.

That's true, and their places have been taken by Burton and Morecambe and Harrogate. Well run clubs miles smaller than us historically. What Stockport/Wrexham/Chesterfield/Notts County are proving is your dodgy owners might take you to the wall but your fanbase and some stability can bring you back. Hereford and Chester were always tiny clubs by comparison.

I'd say its a near miracle and amazing achievement

Ok so that's a realistic but also quite cruel assessment of the Chairman's stewardship. I would prefer to say that his business model has run its course and has been replaced by a different 21at century model. Unfortunately the new model is centred on multi millions and foreign investment , no matter what the level, in our game. No longer the game of the working classes?...you could make a case for saying that in the UK it's no longer a game controlled by the British

Without investment how does the club compete against the upper echalons of this league? But also is it realistic to? Shrewsbury is a small town in minimally populated county and so quite a small supporter base. On my count 1/3rd of the league (8 teams) this year in league one have been in the the premier league. There is often the odd outlier (Lincoln and Stevenage this year) but largely the top of the league is large clubs. Shrewsbury aren't one of them You are right that there are some big clubs but equally there are some which I'd class as equal size or smaller than us. For example, of the top 12, I would say Lincoln, Stevenage, Northampton & Leyton Orient fall into either of those categories. Since our last promotion to L1, our finishes have been 20th, 18th, 3rd, 18th, 15th, 17th, 18th & 12th. I'm not saying we should be challenging the top of the table, but even finishing mid-table seems a stretch for us and of course nearly bankrupted last season in doing so. It's clear that even before the financial problems of the last 12 months, we have generally struggled to do anything at this level, other than survive. Roland has had nearly 30 years to build a club which can compete in the third tier of English football, he hasn't been able to do that. Maybe fresh ideas/investment will change that, or perhaps we have simply hit our ceiling and avoiding relegation from L1 is all we should aspire to do, personally I find that a depressing though.

We have stalled. Whether its the model, the numbers or the makeup of those involved I just don't think as a club we are progressing. Is anyone really surprised we're 17th again? Haven't we been in this division for something like 10 years now? And yet I think there is a better chance of going back down to the 4th than competing for a place in the 2nd.

Can we eek out more revenue from our ground, both on and off match days?
The CEO has some positive ideas let's hope they can come to fruition.
As for getting more bums on seats, perhaps our average home gate is as good as it gets?

Fair comment, and I would agree, we are at a crossroads in terms of the evolution of our club. Granted, we have a new structure in place, and hopefully it will be one that will deliver as time goes by (assuming that we stick with this new model of working). Can we grow as a club organically remains to be seen, as a large cash injection from within or from outside the club doesn't look like happening anytime soon. In the meantime, I think that just being a league one club for the immediate future is as good as it gets, for now at least.

Looking forward to see what we get with the power of a go ahead CEO, a DofF who works on a tight budget and Paul Hurst next season, now they are settled in and know each other. The Hurst season of the past was one of the best in recent years without costing mega bucks. Could lightening strike twice?

A depressing dose of realism there on our recent league finishes, and that 15th place was only thanks to PPG as our form was only taking us one way had that season finished normally. To have 17th/18th as our standard position is one thing, but to have it as the height of our ambition is another thing altogether. We’re like the Crystal Palace of league one, always there, always mediocre, always forgettable.

We’re like the Crystal Palace of league one, always there, always mediocre, always forgettable. we'd won 2 of our last 4 games and lost the other 2 both 3-2 at home after the manager listened to the fans and opted for a more attacking approach , we lost 3-2 at home to Oxford with a last minute goal , this after us being down to 10 men for an hour after vela was sent off, and 3-2 to Tranmere deep into stoppage time after we pressed for the win funny how fans remember things, I remember last season 4 points from 30 and that included 3 that Bristol Rovers handed us on a gift card ;-) as for points per game, that rule applied to the other 23 sides in the division too, for arguments sake, if anyone wants to argue we might have finished lower, then guess what , we might have finished higher too ;-) anyway, nice to take a break from discussing accounts to dig up the past instead ;-)

Appointing Steve C wasn't done with the ambition of 17th/18th. Appointing Paul Hurst wasn't done with the ambition of 17th/18th. If you asked Paul Hurst now I'd wager that coming 17th/18th next season would equal a dismal failure.

we are the longest serving club in league 1, we've been to a play off final, a domestic cup final, our recent runs in the fa cup have been the best since the 70s , attendances are up, as for managers , who didn't call for graham turner to come back ? we went mad in league 2 when we splashed out of grant holt. ( that didn't even gain us promotion ) we nearly made it with hurst, the chairman then brought it Steve Cotterill ( was anyone questioning ambition then ) ? and now hes brought back the guy who very nearly gained us promotion to the championship
not bad for a club going nowhere is it

Dooble was running his mouth off at Bristol Rovers after having too many jollops.
Kept shouting that there are only three clubs above us in the pyramid who are smaller than us, but nearly a dozen below us who are bigger clubs.
After every time he wheeled out this stat he screamed “Lord praise be, Roland” in the Coronation Tap cider house in Clifton at the top of his lungs.

Might do, depends if the Prem and EFL can agree the figures. If not, and if the "football governance bill" gets through parliament, then 'The Bill also includes new backstop powers around financial distributions between the Premier League and the English Football League (EFL). These powers mean that if the leagues fail to agree on a new deal on financial distributions, then the backstop can be triggered to ensure a settlement is reached'
