After Oxford our next opponents are Bristol Rovers who used to play for many years at Eastville before 10 years playing out of the city at Twerton Park, Bath. They finally got back into the city moving into the Memorial Ground but are still looking to build a permanent home ground over 20 years later.
What are your memories of watching Town at the various grounds over the years? How many have you watched Town on?
I've watched Town play Rovers on 6 different ground - Eastville, Twerton Park, Memorial ground, Gay Meadow, New Meadow, Wembley.

5 out of 6 for me, never got to Eastville( before it mysteriously burnt down😉)
That night at Twerton Park was kinda special, mostly because they thought that had it in the bag. Decent open terrace on a bitterly cold night with many superb performances on the night from Town players, non more so than Edwards in goal.

Yes, second best ever Town away game probably only bettered for me when we beat MK Don's. Eagle saving the penalty that should never have been given, cheating little barsteward Marcus Stewart throwing himself down and the ref buying it. Great save and then Ian Steven's winning it late on.

Seems the Town winning at Twerton in 96 was our last game there. We had played them in the league just a few days before.
But there is Utube footage of our game in 97 that was at the Memorial ground so guessing they moved after the 95/6 season. We lost at the Memorial ground and had to stick 2 youngsters in to make up the numbers. We had a flu epidemic but the FL refused permission to call it off. That was my visit to the Mem.

6 out of 6 by me - but I cheat on the Memorial Ground, where I watched Bristol playing rugby in the 1970s. Don't think I watched Town at Eastville either, though I did often see Warboys and Bannister aka Smash and Grab play there.
I was taking my Degree in Bristol between 1971 and 1974.

My best Eastville memory was us winning 3-1 in 1969 with goals from Terry Harkin and Dennis Hawkins (may not be correct but they both played). Still a strong smell of gas in those days from the neighbouring gasworks!
I have seen several games at the Mem, including a couple in the Cowlin box (former Rovers sponsors who a friend worked for). That was an odd experience!

Only seen Town play against them at the Memorial ground but I do wish I could have attended a game at Eastville, some cracking photos there of what looks to be a stadium with a fair amount of character.
Appreciate time moves on and the new grounds we see today have their advantages but whilst I have attended a game at the Allianz Arena in Munich with England, for example; the highlight for me would be seeing the Kickers at the Grünwalder and 1860. That's more my thing. Hopefully next season, fingers crossed...👍

In what year was Kevin Summerfield named on the bench and it was greeted by ironic cheers and laughter as he was nearer 40 than 30!
