Leaving timeless classics "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" and "Here Comes The Sun".
Saw him at Stoke at the top of his game.
Another down to that barsteward cancer. RIP, here comes the sun!

We share the same birthday.
Never a huge fan but left us a huge hit as remembrance. I grew to quite like that as it got played over the years.
RIP Steve.

"Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" was one of my daughter's favourite songs growing up, so much so that she chose it to be our dad/daughter dance at her wedding.
So it's a song that means a lot to me, very poignant memory.RIP Steve.

Oh yes, Mr Soft, I'd forgotten that. He had a lot of good songs so was a great concert to go to, but the support act, Sailor I think it was, were actually top of the charts, same thing happened when seeing Roxy Music, the support act were top with that "9am on a New York subway" record. Roxy music was at the NEC with screens so you could actually see Brian Ferry. I miss those more intimate gigs, like Cockney Rebel underneath the cinema in Hanley or Queen and Pink Floyd at Stafford showground.

... Queen and Pink Floyd at Stafford showground. Is that the Bingley Hall in Stafford? Saw Pink Floyd there on the Animals tour - first half was the Animals album - second half 'Wish You Were Here'. Or it might have been the other way round!!
Back on topic - RIP Steve Harley. "Come up and see me.." one of my all time favourites.

Yes, Bingley Hall, with the pink pig proudly flying above it.

Sebastian
What a track
A work colleague & very good friend of mine passed away recently, worked with him for 40+ years, one of his faves was Steve Harley, this news made me stop for a moment yesterday.
RIP Steve & Steve

RIP Steve. Loved the way he sang 'Come up and See me' with all the pregnant pauses. I read yesterday that it was the producer, Alan Parsons, who put the very long pause in with old fashioned cut and paste tape splicing. The original demo of the song was apparently a slow, bluesy piece. It's an absolute solid gold classic anyway. I'm not a big fan of guitar solos but the short one in Make Me Smile is a thing of beauty, one of my favourites. I love Judy Teen as well, such an inventive record. Quite a character, Harley, and not short of ego for sure - he suggested he would kick David Bowie up the arse to make him stay at the top of his game! But he had the talent to justify it, even if he didn't sustain his commercial success. A sad loss.
