Very suprised there is no thread on here about them. Not every day an English club becomes FIFA World Champions is it?

Glorified friendly, I am aware though the South Americans take it extremely seriously.

I think its very much one of those competitions that the fans of the club itself can get into but for everyone else its all a bit 'meh'. Saw it was on whilst switching through the channels but really couldn't be arsed to watch it...👍

No interest in the Pantomime that is The Premiers**t or in fact any games that are taken to Quatar including the World Cup.... I don’t have a premiership club or a European club or an NFL club who cares about The Super Bowl

Just checked & discovered Man United were the first, and only other, English winners. I’m a United supporter but I’d forgotten about their win almost as soon as it happened so, no, I won’t be sending congrats to Anfield. The competition means very little to me.

The Premier League means very little to me, but Ido enjoy seeing Man U struggle, after spending a good number of years working with glory hunters frequently bragging about we will win this, that and everything else even though they had never set foot in Old Trafford. I struggle to find them now.

Only Liverpool fans could make out it matters. Look at the runners up over the last few years and you can see how meaningless it is, last 6 runners up have been Al-Ain, Gremio, Kashima Antlers, River Plate, San Lorenzo and Raja Casablanca, so yeah, it’s real tough to win, I think we could give most of those a game.

In the past, fans, clubs and football authorities disregarded European club competitions and even the World Cup. I suspect attitudes to this competition will also change over time.

Slightly hypocritical and ridiculous in my opinion that people are mocking Liverpool and their fans attitude to winning this thing, when our fans turned out in their droves for the Crap-a-Trade final two years ago.

Didn’t Man U decide to play abroad in some worthless bloody game a few seasons back instead of playing in the FA Cup . The hypocrisy of some Man U fans is breathtaking at times .

That was the decision of the FA... as they were desperate to win the rights to stage the 2006 World Cup... so they asked MUFC to participate in the new FIFA World Club Cup in Brazil and withdrew them from the FA Cup in the process to save them from fixture congestion.

The integrity of our League Cup suffered years ago. Remember Gary Peters putting out virtually aTown reserve team to play Championship side Fulham, much as SR did this season against Rotherham. How many regular first teamers do the Premier sides pick in the early rounds? They Premier League as a whole started the downfall of the competition and the FA Cup could well go the same way.

In that case why did they take their 1st team and leave the reserves to play Villa in a domestic cup competition? so they could throw the villa game and avoid playing the big boys in the semis ;-) I've heard that the authorities have launched a doping enquiry into the kids team that Liverpool fielded against Villa, Apparently during the after match checks 3 of them were found to have Calpol in their systems
