two halfs with very different performances by town. coventry started brightly and looked sharper , had more variation in there attack and were wining most of the second balls.
town worked hard but there first touch and distribution was poor (a lot of forward momentum was lost due to this),the long diaganol balls were been picked up by coventry, we had three chances. unfortently towns defence switched off and coventry score a soft goal.ferjiri had very little supply apart from high balls that he had no chance of winning
Ricketts desrvers credit for putting whalley on for the start of the second half he made an imediate impact, town had more pace he was all over the place, then Giles came on and injected some real pace down the wing really dont like players pestering and pressuerising the ref to try and get Norburn sent off.
we scored through a very congested box who cares if it was scr@ppy both teams had chances. the second goal was a real rockett but in the build up cummings showd his football brain ,the obvious pass was to edwards but he spred the play to giles who made a cross and whalley smashhed it in. all credit to town for a fighting comeback and a well deserverd three points.

Great second half performance. Coventry fans very upset 😂😂 I suspect they'll be saying there was a foul on one of their chaps just outside our box in the lead up to our second...👍

Great second half performance. Coventry fans very upset 😂😂 it seems the coventry fans think we are"ankle tapping , shirt pulling cheating team, we should have had a player sent off and the ref was c**p and they felt there manager got the tactics wrong. we are also viewd as a poor team that coventry should be beating considering there poor record against us ,the last was from the rose tinted view point .

Credit to Ricketts tonight for not being afraid to realise it wasn’t working at halftime and make the subs early. No doubt we won that game because of his tactical shuffling.

Poor first half, excellent second half.
Giles is so effective as an impact sub. Receiving simple passes in a deep position and then effortlessly getting to the byline and putting crosses in.
Three centre halves were very solid today as well. I like Beckles, but I do think they’re our best three.
Edwards worked hard, won the ball high up the pitch on numerous occasions. He’s just lacking a bit of quality in the final third at the moment.
Must say I thought Coventry were hard done by with a few of the decisions towards the end. But it’s about time we had a shoddy refereeing performance work in our favour.

Makes my eyes roll when I heard boos at halftime in the south stand. This is night and day compared to last season and we are maybe one or two players off being competitive at the top end in this league. You wouldn’t think we were mid table the way some of our fans act sometimes.

Coventry playing midweek didnt help them and thought we advantage of them tiring in the second half. Well done SR for injecting some extra energy into the team with the subs.

Just reading the sky blues talk forum and how nice it is to beat such a superior side. They really think they are something else, typical ex big team who still think that we should turn over for them, as apparently we are s###e compared to their standatds. They blame everything on everyone for the loss and not one comment that gives us any credit, when second half I thought we mullered them. Another team on my love to fail list.

1st half: No urgency, no creativity.
2nd half: Much better and subs changed the game.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying ‘Well deserved victory’ as some have but can’t complain that it wasn’t an entertaining second half. Not sure what went wrong for Coventry they hardly ‘imploded’ as such but when they made a hash of that golden opportunity 2 mins before our equaliser I had a feeling it was going to be our day.
Whalley and Giles MUST start. Beat Blackpool away next week and all of a sudden we’re a serious contender for the Play-Offs. Currently 3 points off the Play-Offs with a game in hand over Blackpool, Rotherham and Coventry who are 5th, 6th and 7th. Also above Sunderland.

I’d be more worried about the Coventry players falling over like a puff of wind and breaking up the flow of play if I were a Coventry supporter but I’m not so I couldn’t care less.
They thought this ref was bad (and to be fair he was) they should have had some of the decisions we’ve had recently. I bet there aren’t many teams who’ve had red cards overturned two weeks running.
It’s playing at St Andrews that does it - they think they’re in the Championship already every other week.

OK - misplaced fears, I'm happy to say.... However, a scr@ppy goal, and one by a player who should be selected every week cannot disguise the lack of adventure Ricketts out🤣🤣 So you would have started him in the last few games even though he sustained a calf muscle injury at Bradford and could hardly walk.😖

Agree that bringing Whalley and Giles on made a huge difference going forward, but we need to remember that both of these players have come back from injury recently and would not last the full 90 mins. But great impact subs which unsettle teams and upset their rhythm, exactly as they are intended to do, great finish by Whalley.

Coventry fans should never ever criticise referees for giving them nothing. They were the beneficiaries of some of the worst refereeing ever in the play off semi-finals against Notts County. Largely because of that, look where the 2 clubs are today!!!

Town were absolutely shocking first half, second best all over the pitch and deservedly a goal behind. I couldn't believe the almost complete lack of urgency from Town during that half. Walking to take corners and free kicks, O'Leary taking an age over goal kicks, the kind of thing you might see from an away team trying to take the tempo out of a game and worse still we were a goal down when much of this was going on. Ricketts team selection was poor, the team selected to nullify Oxford last week was not the team we needed to take the game to Coventry today.
Second half a different story, It's amazing what happens when you get the right attack minded players on the pitch to give the team the right balance. Coventry will be rueing not taking the great chance they had to go two up when they had a three on two break not long before we equalised. An excellent move for the winner, no coincidence it was a goal created by Giles and finished, so well, by Whalley.
A deserved win? No, a draw would have been a fair result for me, but an important three points very gladly accepted.
Finally the Coventry fans and Mark Robins do have a point today, we got away with a lot and Norburn would have walked more often than not for his cynical foul when already on a yellow. We did commit a fair number of cynical fouls, shirt pulls etc. If you don't watch the game through blue and amber tinted specs this was all too evident. The referee was weak today and looked a bit out of his depth at times.

Another bitter manager and fanbase, love it Ricketts is still a rookie in management terms really but he’s already shown an ability and flexibility to positively affect a game with his subs and tactics, none more so than today. Would like to see him be a bit more flexible in his initial set up, but can’t argue with the results so far this season. With one game left before Christmas I think 95% of fans would’ve taken the season so far.
