#SHREWSBURY TRIED THEIR HARDEST to bring @gregdocherty96 back to the club this Jan, but #Shrews chief exec Brian Caldwell has told @bbcshropshire - #Rangers loan-fee price too high, and frankly perhaps Docherty needs a bigger club than #Salop now. But they pushed hard for him. So we are also required to pay a loan fee? Is this how the loan procedure works? ie we pay a loan fee and then a % contribution to the player's wages?

Think it all depends on how useful the loan deal is to the development of the player.....and is not set in stone.

Love the line in the paper that Docherty’s Rangers teammate Jamie Murphy was also loosely linked with the Stadium of Light but has gone to Burton Albion.

"The fact that we have worked with him before and that we get on well with his agent has helped.” That may well have helped in persuading Jamie Murphy to sign for Burton, but the fact that we have worked with Docherty before and get on well with his dad clearly doesn't work for us.

So, today is 30th January and so far, Docherty still hasnt committed to any club seeking to employ him regardless of whether they are Championship or L1. Ricketts has intimated that there will be at least a couple of players in and quite possibly players leaving the club. So can we dream that Docherty may still be joining the club? Laurent/Norburn or both out and the wee Scotsman coming in?

I'm kinda thinking along similar lines, would have thought that he would have been fixed up by now, only downside is he fit to go, how much game time has he had, as has been stated we need him to go from the off !!

Better off keeping what we have than signing a Scottish premiership reserve who has hardly kicked a ball for 6 months.

Docherty is clearly not happening with Sunderland & Charlton sniffing but this again? Winless since Blackpool & hapless in attack but we’re too good to get Docherty here on loan? Have a day off. You must be extremely disgruntled with the signings of Blackburn reserve Sam Hart and Hibs reject Josh Vela? Hardly touched a first team ball this season between them.

Not disappointed at all when we have a strong squad at the moment to give them time to prove what they are about, but ask me when they have had the time. I didn't say Docherty was coming, I was merely offering my meagre opinion to the thread. I shall now enjoy the rest of my day off.

Wonder if Docherty coming in means we'll accept a fee for Laurent today rather than lose him out of contract for nothing in the summer?

I did wonder if we'd have any interest seeing as the situation with Docherty not getting fixed up, rumours of our CAMs and the cup windfall, plus it would shut a lot up and gain some support for ricketts
could be an interesting day as far as we are concerned, doesn't usually happen

Would be more than happy with that Laurent was utterly miserable at Gillingham. Sure he can play, but he stinks when he has off days. Like you, i'd be happy, particularly if we can claim a six figure sum for him while his stock is high after last weekend.

Interesting!
"Meanwhile, interest is growing from fellow League One clubs in Town centre-half Omar Beckles, who could be heading out today". (Shropshire Star).

It would be a great window if Doc returns all be it just loan maybe just maybe a permanent deal could be reached some how . With mcaleny and now Ramsay maybe there are more outgoing's. Beckles hasn't been great this season and Laurent is hot and cold so potential money in the bank for then two.

If we do get Doc imagine it would be a six month loan as he obviously has his sights set on a higher division, but I'm going to get carried away and imagine we somehow get him on a permanent transfer. With regular playing time the lad could easily double or triple whatever the fee we end up paying for him while entertaining us all along the way.

Perhaps he could be interested in signing one of those contracts that has a release clause if someone else is prepared to come in for him and pay a set amount.

Would be perfectly ok with that and makes sense for both parties. Had a quick scan of rangers forums and they all think Doc would be going to Hibs and them getting a striker on loan in return. Not one mention of Shrews being interested, let's just hope no news is good news

Perhaps the money accrued from the FA Cup is being used to try and push this through permanently. I reckon a deal with Rangers could be agreed but whether Docherty is prepared to come here permanently is very doubtful
