Hi all, We've had countless threads on here in the past relating to pre-match music (remember the days when the club took suggestions from people for each game for a season? That was fun!) but I don't think this has been done before - please let me know if it has! I was wondering, if you could pick one song to add to a playlist that summed Salop up for you, what would it be? It could be a song that brings back a certain memory of a match, or occasion, something you'd like to hear before a match, or just something that in some way to you represents Town. Answers on a postcard - or alternatively, this thread. I'll start the ball rolling with (no surprises here) The Killers - Mr Brightside (happy memories of hearing it blasting over the tannoy from the Wakeman end)

I'll start the ball rolling with (no surprises here) The Killers - Mr Brightside (happy memories of hearing it blasting over the tannoy from the Wakeman end) I was playing it on my phone this morning when taking the doggie for her morning gallop around the hills. But The Killers were plying their trade to an audience of Juan. Lottie isn't interested.

Sorry to be boring and predictable but it will always be "Catch us if you can" for me
From the first visit to The Meadow as a 9 year old in 1968, till today when it is a ring tone on my phone, that song will always be STFC to me

Sorry I wont be answering the question either other than to say it will always be Catch us if you can. It did make me think however of one of the worst tunes played at a club every match. Z cars at Everton. How do you get motivated as a player running out to that.

Hey Jude.
Anyone that was at the play off semi final at MK will know exactly why (and what the fans singing it did for the team). Probably my best ever moment following Town that night.

That said, I'm not suggesting for a second that it should be changed! I suspect players are either roused by the familiar sound (including Everton players with the Z Cars theme) or it's more for the fans than them.

When we were near enough of age to go to the pub before home games we always started at the Proud Salopian. In the snug was an old juke box and before long the following songs always seemed to get an airing... The air that I breath (The Hollies) Northern Lights (Renaissance) Dreadlock Holiday (10CC) Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty) Wonderous Stories (Yes) A few beers, a sing along...always set us up nicely before setting off to the old lady that was the Gay Meadow

Please PLEASE dont use Tom Hark....... Anyone tell me why not? Quick quiz question Well, from a personal point of view I remember it being used in cringeworthy goal celebrations at the custard bowl... Ugh. Horrid tune. Hard to believe the original is from 1958, mind!

Hard to believe the original is from 1958, mind! That wasnt my reason. I seem to remember we used it to run out to for all the ill fated games as we plummeted out of the FL in 2003. Another reason to dislike the song.

Agreed, that and Bury Play off Semi are my 2 best away games ever, but MK shades it for those amazing 15 minutes of Hey Jude at Half Time

That said it's got to be CUIYC for me.

Hmmmmmm So you are wanting something more motivational than 'catch us if you can' ?? (good tune though it is) Needs to be what? Bigger, louder, fatter, more multicultural, more crowd particpation, playable by our 'band', with flag-waving-cats and featuring Lenny the Lion riding a dirt-bike through flaming hoop to deliver the match-ball......kind of thing ??
Well that 'tune' already exists. Just needs re-recording with slightly different lyrics.
Go! Team , Doing it Right . (Shrewsbury Town remix)
