Salop without a game on Saturday....... Anyone got the cold turkey feeling? A Saturday without planning a journey to a new destination or a familiar old ground. No, ‘Where shall we go for pre-match pie and pint?’ No Radio Shropshire this Saturday No interview with Mr Ricketts telling his disciples the same old story No dodgems in the car park to make a fast ] No Wife telling me ‘you lost again then’ when we get home It’s going to be a desperate weekend.........

Heading to Newark for Newark Flowserve v Heather St. Johns in the FA Vase. Going with a Burnley friend and have a list of 9 pubs that require checking out - failure is not an option!
As well as FA Vase (1st Round) and FA Trophy (Prelim Round) tomorrow is also designated NonleagueDay - some deals around for STH.

Enfield Town’s fixtures are as all over the place as Town’s are, at the moment, initially thwarting my attempts to catch up with them this season. But, they are away to Cray Wanderers playing at Bromley; as Hayes Lane was an old stamping ground of my Father’s - and all the visitor reviews are good, including the social club - it seems worth a trip. Enfield’s ground is hosting an FA Vase fixture - have never heard of the ‘New Salamis’ . Nothing like Non- League Day to make you go exploring, although no-one seems to want to offer me cheap entry at the sight of my Town season ticket!

Nothing like Non- League Day to make you go exploring, although no-one seems to want to offer me cheap entry at the sight of my Town season ticket! From Wikipedia ...
"New Salamis was formed in 1971 by fans of Cypriot club Nea Salamis Famagusta, with the Cyprus-based club acting as a parent club. Playing in the KOPA League, a British Cypriot league, the club won the 2016 FA Sunday Cup, following a penalty shootout win against Barnes at Selhurst Park. Ahead of the 2019–20 season, New Salamis were promoted to the Spartan South Midlands League, following a second placed finish in the Hertfordshire Senior League. New Salamis entered the FA Vase for the first time in 2019–20."
They are currently step 6 so have not come into my focus - yet!
Have fun in Bromley!
Depending how the trip to Newark goes I might pop up to Histon (scene of a town cup exit) on Sunday for Cambridge City v Market Drayton in the FA Trophy.

Non-league day being given a miss by a couple of non-league clubs - Kidderminster v Farsley Celtic postponed due to international call ups.
Always seems a bit extreme when that happens in League 1 but in National League North!?

Cray Wanderers 3-5 Enfield Town More goals than I’ve seen for ages - spririted attacking football, not much hung around in midfield. When it comes to social clubs, non-league have definitely nailed it and this one came with a resident cat! The programme was a great read with good football writing, there must be an enthusiast in there somewhere, by far the best I’ve bought this season. 651 seemed a pretty good attendance and enough cover to keep dry as it was a pretty miserable wet day. Non-league reminds you why you watch football - a day well worth supporting - and all for a fiver

Went to Sutton Coldfield Town v Yaxley in the FA Trophy, the home side won 2-1 and the band were keeping us entertained as well as the game!

Dare I say it....I'm going to watch a rugby match. I'll be having a few beers watching Bridgnorth 1sts play Burton Do you mind me asking how your day was in Bridgnorth? How much was it to attend the rugby? Also, what was the beer like around the town. Some good ale houses? Reason I ask is I’m looking to take the old man there soon, but have never been myself, so any pointers would be appreciated 👍🏻
