Getting away with one or two things here the Aussies. They did do in their first game too.

As an England fan I'm kind of happy Wales won. I think Australia looked the better team overall, Wales have a scrummage problem. Presuming England top their group it will be a tough game against the Aussies. After the last rwc and a recent 6 Nations defeat I'd rather play Australia though!

Best game of the world cup so far 😊
I'm slightly biased of course 😁 it was certainly a nerve racking second half...

Still basking in the win over Ireland here. My daughter enjoyed it so much I think I have managed to take advantage of her new found interest in rugby & persuaded her to go to Yokohama with me on Oct 12th to watch the England v France game on the big screen in the massive Fan Zone there

Rugby union is the only sport I can think of in which I actively dislike England. I never like Scotland much either but that's mainly because they're always crap and it seems daft that anyone makes a fuss about them. I'd get behind Wales and Ireland though. I'm English but this is rugby union. Different rules apply.

And what have the rugby team done that's so heinous to make you think like that?? I want England to win whether it's football, rugby, cricket or twiddly winks because I'm English.. How much does logic apply to sport? You missed out a crucial word - it's rugby union. When you're from rugby league, you grow up with union as the establishment version of rugby, the one that ostracised the clubs in my sport for having the temerity to compensate working men for the wages they lost by playing rugby. And that was only the start of it. I like Wales because I have connections with the place and rugby union is the people's game there and I like Ireland for family reasons. There are parts of England (like Gloucester) where the club is a community club the way they were traditionally in Wales and still are in rugby league. But overall it's too much the establishment game for me. There also seems to be an arrogance about England that turns me right off them. Perhaps it's the same in other sports but I'm in a position with rugby union where I'm ready to notice it. So I don't know who they're likely to meet when the real competition starts but I'll not be cheering for either team particularly (unless it's Wales or Ireland). I won't be devastated if England win the thing but I'll be quietly satisfied if and when they're knocked out. Just how it is for me.

Best game of the world cup so far 😊 I'm slightly biased of course 😁 it was certainly a nerve racking second half... very enjoyable my only concern is that wales have faded towards the end of both games, i know it is very hot /humid but it is the same for all the teams. Fiji will be playing for pride after losing to uruguay and australia so we can expect a brusing physical game

The southern hemisphere have dominated the rugby world cup for far too long, we've only had the one home nation winner in England, time we brought the trophy back to these shores. Wales, Ireland and England could go all the way and there's no reason, after today why Scotland shouldn't progress to the knock out stages.

I’m with Venceremos on this one, not that I have much interest in Union but if I did my team would be Ireland due to ancestry on my Dad’s side.
I don’t like English rugby because I regard it as a game for toffs who think they’re too good to play football, I was forced to play it at my horrible school and outside of that it was a game played by lads too fat, slow and uncoordinated to play football.
So there’s a lot of my prejudices exposed in one go!

So you think Maro Iioje, George Kruis, Courtley Laws, Billy Vupipola and Kyle Sinkler, etc, are fat snobs ? I'll let you tell them that. You don't mind in I wait in the car park do you? I played RU for about 12 years at a decent level. I hate to say this TST, but you sound like the snob.

Wow & I thought the ‘Scouse not English’ brigade were bad enough. Two Englishmen on this thread support their nations rivals because its rugby. I’m no fan of rugby really but... that’s possibly the strangest sporting thing I’ve ever heard.
There’s nowt so queer as folk.

Enjoy both Union and League. More so Union at international level and League at league level but evenso, enjoy both codes. And whats not to like so far at this World Cup. It's been brilliant!!

I still like to hear that England have won, rather than anyone else, but no interest in actually watching it Not sure why I looked at the thread to be honest

in the first half a clinical scotland punished every Samoa mistake ,the hot/humid weather must be very draining.Scotland are back in the mix after this win in an open group .
England now face the two tougher teams Argentina and France after an impressive start to the tournoument
Ireland made an impressive start against Scotland but then were desrverdly beaten by japan but have the easier two last games in the group
Wales despit losing some key players before the world cup due to injury have made a god start but have faded in both games in the second half, we looked to have picked up some injuries in the Australian game in a brusing encounter, so let us hope they can remain injury free in the remaing two games of the group.
a commentator who has played in japan described that the ball can feel like a bar of soap due to the weather conditions , hence the number of errors we are seeing.
let us hope that as many as possible home nations get through this group stage.

I haven't had chance to see any highlights of today's games but was surprised All Black's didn't score more points. Ireland will come out with all guns blazing tomorrow and should get the biggest win of the tournament so far.

Both Italian props should have been sent off for that dangerous tackle...total madness when they were in such a strong attacking position 😕

a mixture of injuries in the game and a lack of discipline not sure why both were not red carded , fortunently the south african player was not injured. this resulted in the italians throwing away an atacking position.
Soutj African just steamrollered them , a real blow was to see Cheslin kolbe turn his ankle near the end of the game and was clearely in some pain and limping, let us hope it is not to serious.

Am I alone in thinking this tournament is really dragging?
I'm sure it'll get better once the contestants are more evenly matched but, as far as I can tell, in two weeks there have only been two interesting games so far (Japan - Ireland & Wales - Australia). Fans of a particular team might not mind one-sided matches but it's certainly a turn-off for me.
I know the physical demands make it hard but the squads are surely big enough to enable the group stage to proceed a bit quicker than this? Let's be honest, we could have picked the last 8 before a ball was kicked (I'm assuming only 2 qualify per group and there isn't a fiendish design to extend the contest even longer).
