Really looking forward to it! Football is my game of course and I'd be hard pushed to name the England players (nevermind anyone else from any of the other competing nations) but when it comes to the international tournaments, enjoy it big time. I reckon the six nations as a competition and a sporting spectacle is up there with the best. A good few early starts and 'home office' days on their way. And England not looking to shappy in the lead up. Might be in with a sniff. Anyone else settling down for the opener tomorrow?

Will definitely be tuning in tomorrow and over the course of the next 6 weeks.
I'm hoping that Wales will have a good tournament...although as a proud Welshman my heart is definitely ruling my head. The only problem is that heavens forbid should Wales reach the final then it's on the same day as my daughter gets married ๐
This is going to be a very open tournament. I expect England and Ireland to be in the mix along with Australia, South Africa and the team still the one to beat, New Zealand.

Really looking forward to this, but not having checked the fixtures I hope the time difference doesn't cause too many issues with the viewing in the UK. Would rather watch a decent game of rugby on tv over football any day but prefer watching football live. I miss my BT sport and not being able to watch the RU premiership, with a wife from Gloucester and lived there for a few years the old egg chasing is right up there.

Kev ball and Egg chasing arenโt mutually exclusive, I love them both and played rugby for nigh on 40 years although in recent year STFC has been my Saturday passion.
Iโm really looking forward to RWC, itโs probably the most open tournament in years albeit thereโs still only realistically 6 teams who are in with shout of winning. New Zealand as always, South Africa and not wanting to tempt fate, England all look very good however, on their day Australia, Ireland and Wales could beat anyone. My heart says an England South Africa final however, I think NZ will take some beating and always have the knack of coming good at RWCs

It is going to be a great few weeks of rugby. First shock could be on Saturday, I don't overly rate the All Black's at the moment and South Africa have improved greatly.

Tried to get tix for England v France in Yokohama (had preferential chance in first sale stage as a resident of Kanagawa prefecture) but failed. Prices were crazy. Very few directly behind goal at equivalent of ยฃ60 then jumping up to well over ยฃ100 in adjacent blocks, ยฃ150 in the corners, ยฃ200 and up to way more on the sides. Lost interest because of that.

I did wonder whether you'd be taking in a game but I certainly don't blame you for giving it a swerve at those prices. That's crazy. That aside though, what is it like over there? Is Japan ready to go rugby crazy or does it look to be a low key affair? Are the locals up for it?

Mild excitement I would say - proud to be putting on the event but there are few real rugby fans in Japan, it's very much a minor sport. I think it's seen more like a test event warm up for the Olympics next year really.

Japan have got a decent shout of making the quarter finals so will be interesting to see if support builds. Japans big game will be Scotland. It's a repeat of a group game four years ago when Scotland ran away with the game in the 2nd half. Japan were made to play only three days after the epic win over South Africa, such unfair match scheduling seems to have bben sorted out for this world cup.

Point of order: Whatever the organisers call it, itโs the Rugby Union World Cup. There are two versions of rugby and each has its own World Cup.

Oh, there'll be no problem with support for the home team, don't worry about that. Their games will be sold out and they will get lots of hype. Just not sure there'll be so much interest in games they don't feature in. But I could be wrong. They had a stadium full with 15000 to greet Wales at their training base, and loads turned up in my town to see the Aussies training (they are based where I live).

Looking forward to watching as much of it as I can. Fixture kick off times are not helpful though for us UK viewers!
I predict a Wales v NZ final........

Well, the wife surprisingly sat and watched the whole game. She was happy with the result, but less surprisingly said that she didn't like rugby very much because it is hard to understand and stops too often. She's not wrong.

Wife and I arrive in Tokyo on 03/10/19 to watch England vs Argentina at the same venue as today's match and then England vs France in Yokohama.

I thought the occasion got to Japan against Russia. They froze and made a load of simple handling errors. They're a better team than that.

It is a bonus point win but they would have expected that against one of the weakest teams in the tournament.

It's a relatively minor sport here and they were surprised by the sudden intense media attention, which made them nervous. Btw, did anyone notice that one of their tries was scored by the older brother of the Aussie find of the Ashes, concussion substitute batsman Marnus Labuschagne?

That's a top turn out by the locals for the Italy Namibia game. Great to see. And a decent game too. Just love the reaction of the Namibia players when they score. They know they're not going to be winning the game but the smiles when they score. Superb stuff. What it's all about. Enjoyed yesterday games too. I guess same old, same old looking to Fiji. You know they'll be more than capable of competing for a time but as the game goes on (against the better sides) it just seems to go away from them. But they've got some big lads, one or two Aussies bouncing about the place yesterday. The Argies will be kicking themselves big time, that was another good game to watch. France got away with one there. I suspect there is more to come from the All Blacks. And now for Ireland v Scotland. ๐

The big game of the weekend is about to start! New Zealand scored 90 odd points against Tonga in their pre rwc game so expecting tries a plenty for England ๐น๐น๐

That was a slightly painful watch! Bonus point was the minimum requirement and England got it but it wasn't pretty at times.
