Makes no sense at all.
Since he arrived Watford have one of the best records in the PL ..... virtual certs to be relegated at that point.

Absolutely crazy timing. They have a decent chance still of staying up - hope they don't now. Will serve them right.

Not completely factual but there's rumours going round on twitter that he had a punch up with one of the Watford players on Friday

'Pearson did not lift the lid on the reasons for his sudden sacking, but itβs understood that he was involved in a verbal altercation with Watford owner Gino Pozzo following Friday nightβs 3-1 defeat by West Ham. Pearson had already been informed that he would not remain in charge for the 2020/21 season regardless of whether they survived relegation or not, but a frustration with his methods since the Premier League resumed last month led to the dispute reaching a point of no return'.

Well since Watford change their managers like they change their socks anyway heβs better off out of it.
I have a friend who is a lifelong Watford supporter and he just about gives up with the owners.

Pearson and the owners, confound the press, agree to see out the job and be there just for the last games. What a story that would be.

the best thing that could have happened to Pearson in his career was getting sacked yesterday
he got them into a position of safety and with arsenal and city left to play whatever happens he's in a no lose situation now, he probably knows that and I guess may have initiated and forced the sacking himself one way or another

It's true he can say he took them from a hopeless position to the brink of survival, even if they stumble now.

His contract was only until the end of this season.

His contract was only until the end of this season. but thats part of my point, he's been sacked, and now all we know is he's available, and did a fantastic job keeping Watford up, instead of having to face arsenal and city (who beat them 8-0 in the first game ) he can chill out at home and wait for the phone calls, I'm guessing he walked into the chairmans office at Watford and demanded something they were not prepared to give, he probably has a nice bonus coming and isn't short of a few bob come up with a more plausible theory if you can ;-)

Well Watford relegation part 1 completed. 4-0 home stuffing to Man City. Just hope Villa can come up with a decent result against the Arsenal now and the fat lady will be in full voice for Watford. βΊ

It's still just about possible that Watford and Villa could be relegated. They'd both need to lose and Bournemouth win.

Watford are in real danger now but who is to say the Man City result would have been any different under Pearson. Read somewhere that Watford are the only Premier League club to have sacked three managers in one season so at least they hold one record for the moment. Hope Villa stay up as Dean Smith seems a decent bloke despite his Walsall connections and not many British managers from the lower divisions have had a chance in the Premier League. I have always been amazed at how Bournemouth have not fallen foul of the FFP rules given their small gates but those rules do not seem to being applied properly anyway.

Can see Bournemouth being the next basket case of a club if (when) they fall out of the Premier. Will need some drastic pruning to live on their resources once the Premier money dries up.
