We look like a club up its own arse the way we've gone about this.
Why are we playing a second string in a decent competition - the season's barely started, I can't believe we need to keep players fresh for Saturday.

An absolute shambles. Time to go. Ricketts Out, he’s never been the man for this job.

Agree 100% By all means play the reserves for the EFL Trophy. However, chucking the League Cup in the first round (actually the first 3 minutes) by "resting" players to concentrate on the league after 2 games, and then getting spanked at home off Rotherham is absolutely tinpot. Shall we just not enter any extra competitions at all next year in case it distracts us from the chase for 11th? I hope this is one hell of a half time teamtalk.

Make 2 or 3 changes by all means but 8 is taking the p•ss. Golbourne and Beccles are back to the ineptitude the showed early in Rickett’s reign. The midfield is weak before bringing in sub stabdard players.

My annoyance that this wasn't available for £10 on ifollow has rapidly given way to delight that this wasn't available for £10 on ifollow. Worth paying £10 for this not to be on.

Acknowledging the disruption 8 changes causes before in the very next line shoehorning in a continuation of your vendetta against "Beccles" is bizarre stuff, even by your usual Sunday league standards. Dunno whether us mugging off the competition or this post is the more embarrassing, but a very disappointing night for you on two fronts. Must do better.

So much for that then.
One cup run that never looked like getting off the blocks....
Meanwhile one wonder goal in 3 games....
Not good.

Whats going on ?? Just when every thing was looking up. I blame VAR - would have chalked off all those goals, no problem...

Wish I hadnt got my tickets for Saturday, stayed away during lucky fa cup run last year as thought rickets was clueless and can't organise a defence, Seems he has learnt nothing, one shot on target again he is bloody dull

Is anybody really convinced by Ricketts?
I'm fully aware everyone hopes he does well and that it all works out, but it really does feel like even the most positive of supporters are just hoping.

they deserve a visit from the Hong Kong police after that, just to put them on the right track and all that.
The tea leaves were right, Stay at home they said stayed at home one did.

These next two or three signings are going to be crucial for Ricketts. It's clear without Norburn we are light in midfield and even lighter up front.

Calm down guys. Heavy loss yes, but lots of changes made to the starting 11, including two first year pros. We’ve invested to much time and money to be talking about another sacking so early on.

Embarrassing.
Ricketts has got it badly wrong tonight.
Need a big reaction against Dale on Saturday now - a few shots on target wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Well that's the post Portsmouth optimism done away with. Even with the context of the injuries and rested players that was an inept display all round.
Less said about the defense on the opening 5 minutes the better, but it was school boy defending at best. I remain unconvinced about the 3 at the back and certainly with Waterfall and Beckles playing there its a recipe for disaster. Probably more worrying is how poor the midfield was, and as such the strikers had nothing to work from. Its still hard to judge them but so far the front two look like they have yet to be introduced. Felt for the young lads introduced to the team as the senior players round them really let them down tonight.
The big worry is that the supposed strength in depth in the squad was shown up to be a bit of a sham tonight, and with any injuries to key first team players we look really light weight all over the pitch. Add in Ricketts odd tactics and apparent lack of a game plan, plus the mystery around Grant and the signs point to a tough season.
Still plenty of time to turn it round but many more performances like we saw in the first half will see big pressure on Ricketts future

Not only are we missing Norburn but dare I say it we need Grants steel in the midfield. Very disappointed we have lost tonight but can only hope this is a wake up call as we clearly need some extra quality in the team. I see the Ricketts haters are quick to post their comments, shame as it does not help all this negitive talk, get behind the team.

im not critisising sam , im all for giving fringe players a run out, im annoyed with them for not getting us over the line, we have had some good ties in this competition in recent years.
