My friend is a Wednesday fan but due to no game, went to the Sc***horpe game today.
Reckons they are one of the worst teams he has ever seen and are in real trouble.
How long has Hurst got? A couple more losses and I think he is gone.

Next 2 games are home to Morecambe and Oldham.
Draw a blank with these two and he's in trouble.

He's now plying his trade in a division where the repercusssions are just to great; relegation to the 4th division is one thing, relegation to the conference something else entirely. If it continues as is then he's not going to be there for much longer. What a fall from grace...

On the plus side for Sc***horpe, Hurst is an excellent non league manager.

just found this preview on a site dated 23rd July
did anyone get some dosh on this cert ;-)
Sc***horpe United have had a mixed window since being relegated, obviously losing some important players, but have recruited shrewdly, and look poised to bounce back at the first time of asking.
The Lincolnshire side should have a good season under Paul Hurst, who despite a blip at Ipswich is a talented manager, who achieved impressive results with Shrewsbury. The Iron are 2/1 to get promoted from League Two

Hurst certainly divides opinions. I was talking to a Town fan yesterday who would have Hurst back in a heartbeat. I wouldn't.

I wouldn't. its amazing isn't it we have a manager who in less than 12 months has improved every position on the pitch and has done so much off the pitch too, this after a mess from askey and partly due to HURST leaving us in the lurch and taking our best players at a late stage and yet some would undo all this in a heartbeat and bring back the manager who not only left us in a crisis but since has a record possibly worst in the world in comparison, all this on the back of him having a one off season that ultimately ended in disappointing failure and presumably they wouldn't mind us spending serious money on this crazy gamble which on current form suggests we'd be in league 2 next season to those who sit behind the old 'form is temporary, class is permanent' saying that saying also covers someone who has temp good form and otherwise permanent bad form

Not trying to start a bunfight and definitely not advocating for sacking him to bring Hurst back in (don't think anyone was seriously contemplating that btw; something of a straw man you've set up for yourself there) but just genuinely curious to know what it is in particular you feel warrants such high praise?

Under Hurst we achieved our highest league finish in nearly 30 years in one of the most memorable and enjoyable seasons many of us will have experienced.
That was after saving us from almost certain relegation the season before - arguably the greater feat.
I understand some people will never forgive the manner of his departure, but let's not rewrite history, he is one of the best managers we've had in the past 30 years or so
Of course sacking Ricketts now and installing Hurst would be ridiculous, his ideas have been heavily backed by Wycherley and we'll see how that works out.
But no one is seriously calling for that, are they?
Hurst made a big mistake jumping at the ipswich job and obviously things aren't going well at Scunny.
But I think he will rebuild his reputation and I would certainly not be averse to having him back one day.
Sometimes managers and clubs can be a good fit for each other.

I am happy with what SR is doing at town. He has brought in some quality players. However I too like frankwellshrew am a bit baffled at the comment by Pilch praising SR for what he has done off the pitch. Apart from the meeting with the chosen few which has risen the manager up to God status with Pilch I fail to see what he has done out of the ordinary. I am not saying he has to do great things off the pitch but just give praise when its due. MM for me deserves praise for what he did off the pitch. SR will Im sure get a lot of praise as the season goes on for what he does on the pitch and good luck to him. I also wish Sam and Pilch all the best for the future and many more happy times together.

he has had the training ground facilities improved and brought new technology in , we all know he invited quite a few social media guys in to spread the word of exactly what his plans are, he has managed to not only offload troublemakers and those not good enough but has managed to get money for several of them, he has shown he can be ruthless and not stand for any messing, I dont need to match names to those examples, we all know who and what
I think this guy deserves every chance to prove himself now, personally I think anything this season where the R word doesn't get a mention is progress in the right direction
as far as hurst goes, this guy had his chance and walked away from it burning bridges in the process

Nice sentiments but Hurst clearly doesn't think that Shrewsbury is a good fit for him. A case of unrequited love. I'm gutted he went as it was a truly memorable season. However I hope that under rickets we could do similar. If he can get all the fans behind him and the team

Whether a scenario will arise in future where Hurst is a possible candidate for the Salop job, who knows. I doubt it as an element of our support would not accept him, but time will tell.

Hurst maybe having a bad time at Scunny but as I have said previously good managers can have blips and can still come good again.
Just because Hurst has fallen off a cliff right now doesn't change the fact that he gave us the best season of football we have had in decades playing entertaining attacking energetic football which almost took us into the Championship.
We didn't make it up but it doesn't change the fact that we had an amazing season in 17/18 and that was thanks to him.
