I’ve been nervous about this game all week, truth be told. After the events of Tuesday which was near enough perfection with us winning the city of Lincoln and Scunny emerging victorious in the last minute, I’m a bit concerned it’ll be “after the Lord Mayor’s show”. I’m afraid I’m lacking the chutzpah of StaffordShrew and friends to attend this one in person, so will be iFollow for me on the big screen projector down the station. I am in Tier 3 and therefore will not be attending any games.
Stay safe and socially distanced while watching on the big screen projector down the station, presumably when you are supposed to be working?
Hopefully he doesn't work for GMP... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-55357169

I imagine most have only just managed to rouse themselves from bed after that late heartbreak to those blasted Mariners yesterday.

Congratulations to Mr Holloway, players and staff of Grimsby Town Football Club Great late goal in 21st minute Geoffrey😂😂😂 The referee signalling for a penalty and then making a gross error of judgement to change his mind constitutes late heartbreak to me. Given you can scarcely muster applause for a Salop goal, I’m not particularly surprised our views diverge on this. On the stream it looked cast iron (no pun intended).

In fairness, the incident in question was a Salop winner at Glanford Park. Would be many in the away end that day who had split loyalties and felt the joy of a goal for Shrewsbury was somewhat counterbalanced by a goal against The Iron.

Was very disappointed that there's indisputable evidence on another thread that I'm not in the three biggest fans of The Iron on here, but I guess it does go to show what a bond we've built up with our Lincolnshire friends over the last couple of years.
And in the same way that sometimes you watch a Salop game (or indeed a United one, when the fixture list Gods allow!) and have to admit you've been beaten by a better opponent, there's absolutely no shame in having fewer posts on this thread than Mortgagehound - there, truly is a man who bleeds Claret and Blue to his very soul*.
*I'm aware that the existence of the soul is disputed and Mortgagehound, like all of us, bleeds red when applicable. It's more a comment on his passion for The Iron, something I'm sure we can all relate to.

Have to say I'm gutted. Obviously it goes without saying that In Cox/Coxy We Trust, but I really felt the return of Hurst to Sc***horpe might be on the cards to strengthen the already famous bond between us and The Iron.
Having called an emergency meeting on Houseparty last night, Inspector Swan, Mortgagehound and I have taken the decision not to create a new "Grimmy" thread. Minutes will be published on here shortly.

Was in a state of absolute ecstasy when Eisa put it on a plate for 'Devvers' early doors, but that's a poor result against our relegation rivals. Three bits of positive news from today though: 1. The Mariner Scum lost 2. Despite our collective decision not to start a Grimsby thread and follow their fortunes, we've already got some updates of how they got on today on the "Hurst" thread. Fully expecting that to turn into a rolling thread, and while I don't like the Mariner Scum it'll truly be a joy to have a Scunny and Grimsby thread dominating the top page on this Shrewsbury Town forum. 3. A very credible away point for Mickey Mellon's Dundee United away at Aberdeen, he's done superbly to guide them towards mid-table in their first season back. I'm sure we can all unite (haha!) in our admiration for Scotland's finest. See you in the " dunny" thread

Without wishing to engage in the normal joshing between B&As eccentrics it’s worth noting that Scunny are playing Grimsby right now with our old boy Eisa scoring for the home side.
That said, I can almost hear the boos and hisses being directed towards the away dugout from certain B&A sofas as the love for the home side grows ever stronger.

2-0 Doug Loft got second one. Look, I know we’re all struggling to contain our excitement on what’s looking like a wonderful afternoon for The Iron, but you need to take responsibility and not spread falsehoods. Dangerous Dougie Loft is 34 and plays for Billericay Town. Would he really be leading the line and wearing the famous claret and blue number 9 in the Year of our Lord 2021? Ryan Loft is having an excellent afternoon though, and no two ways about it. Not sure my heart can take the excitement of the Stadium of Light after this! Neil Cox’s Barmy Army!

Eisa gets his 2nd. That'll teach Hurst for leaving him off the bench in the playoff final in favour of Brown, despite already having a LB on the bench (Lowe).

Even the disappointment of the result at Sunderland can't wipe the smile off this correspondent's face. 3-0 against the Mariner Scum, showed that Pollock in the Mariners back line up for what he is to boot.
I'M WALKING ON SUNSHINE, WOAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Grimsby losing 3-0 at their nearest rivals with Eisa scoring two, a player that Hursty signed for Scunny of course, that’s going to hurt.

Anyone else got a big Friday night on the stouts and Scunny IFollow planned? Love it, absolutely love it, when the fixture stars align and I can watch The Iron and Salop clash-free. Can Scunny make it three wins on the bounce, after victories over the Mariner Scum and "Port Fail"? Here's hoping!
Ole, Ole! Ole, Ole! Ryan Loft, Loft, Loft!

Gents, this thread's for posting news, opinions and analysis about every Salopian's second club ('Scunny')
Please can we keep Hurst/Mariner Scum updates to the separate thread that Hailsham Shrew has kindly set up for us.

No game tonight should see the lads well rested for the visit of Oldham on Saturday and, perhaps crucially, gives us all a chance to re-stock on the Session IPA.
