After so many years at the new stadium, you would think the club / Police would have worked out some basic crowd control by now.
Today on the way out, Pompey fans were allowed to confront Town fans on ‘Super Blues Way’ spitting and shouting, to which our morons responded by throwing stones.
The previous game I attended, Walsall fans were allowed to run down Super Blues way ‘fronting up’ town fans leaving the game, calling myself and two 12 year olds I was with “sheep shagging C U next tuesday’s”
Both times there was not a steward or Policeman in sight.
I’ve been going to games for 20+ years so there is little that would put me off going, but if today was my first game and I was caught up in that I probably wouldn’t go again.
I’m getting sick of having to run the gauntlet leaving a game tbh

Not the responsibility of the stewards. Stewards are not paid for that. However it is the responsibility of the Constabulary. Considering the Pompey crowd of over 1700 I thought that policing rather low key.

It’s the responsibility of the Police...only if the club choose to pay for them.
Whoever is the club’s safety officer at the moment has a lot to learn - not a single steward or Police officer employed outside the away end in between home and away fans today!

Come and have a chat to us sometime about European football adventures and winning major domestic silverware......and Winning at Wembley etc
We might be several league's below you but, our support is incredible. As predicted a near 6,000 crowd. Minus 250 away support.
YOUR GATE WAS BOOSTED BY A BIG AWAY FOLLOWING!
Attendance: 7,880 (1,714 Pompey fans)
Two leagues higher, and in reality, .........WE MATCHED YOU!

I’m getting sick of having to run the gauntlet leaving a game tbh Really don't blame you at all. One thing to have to put up with that on yer tod, quite another when you have your kid with you. Do hope that you contact the club about this. I know on the Facebook page they always ask for feedback after each game so I take it they are interested and want to know about the match day experience (good or bad I would hope). We shouldn't be needing to put up with that. I wonder if more away fans might be heading that way now too with the P&R now officially designated match day parking (well for this one match anyhow).

Definitely something to bring up with club. No harm in asking the SP and/or Supporters’ Liaison Officers to talk to the club either. It’s a serious matter because any club will always have its idiots. I presume the low police presence yesterday was because Portsmouth are not generally a problem but that’s no excuse.
The club won’t know if you don’t tell them though.
Quite what it has to do with Wrexham I’m not sure because we don’t play them any more!!!

No matter who the club is, sore losers can always have a tendency to kick off.

All the coppers were busy at the Brooklands splitting a lads face open on the floor because he was "resisting arrest" I didn't see what he was nicked for but they didn't give him half a second to comply before slamming on the floor.

The stewarding/policing yesterday was terrible. It normally is. There’s police where you don’t want them and no police where you do want them.
They were filming people drinking and chatting at the pub before the game, but were nowhere to be seen on Oteley Road after the game where punches were thrown and there was a number of confrontations. Also as the OP states they were nowhere to be seen around SBW, as stones were thrown at the away fans leaving the ground. An angry Pompey fan then ran over and tried (and very nearly succeeded) in squeezing through the locked gate. No police to be seen.
Also over-zealous stewarding of the block 18/19 stairwell yesterday. Just let people watch the game.

Would you rather the alternative closure of the block, or more, if safety officers were in attendance and observing it?

If been to countless games where the stairwells have been full of people. Walsall on the last day of last season for example.

We cant really argue that the Wrexham support is very good when you consider the league they are in. Having said that what else is there to do in Wrexham. The Leisure Centre ( a sheep tied to a lamppost ) is still very popular but that's about it. Being in the Uwafer backed Turnocks caramel wafer cup competition will give supporters hope that the glory days can return and give them something to brag about in years to come. We will just have to continue to envy them and do what we can to bring championship football to the Meadow.

In fairness though, the only other proper welsh clubs (Cardiff, Swansea and Newport) are all on the south coast so they’ve got a huge catchment area. Most of them support Everton/Liverpool on the side as well, plastic scousers. Not like ourselves with the big Birmingham/Wolverhampton clubs to contend with.

You clearly are clueless. I am 100% sure I know more about safety regulations in stadiums, than you do, having worked in that industry for many years. Failure to keep stairwells clear is an offfence punishable by closure of blocks or even stands, if safety officers observe it

I request that we close block 19, rip the seats out and turn it into a pretty water feature with the water cascading down the steps and being pumped back up to the top again, it will make a change from the current shower we have installed in there ;-)
