What would your starting 11 be? This is mine,
O’leary Pierre Ebanks-Landell Williams Giles Love Rowland McCormick Edwards Morison Okenabirhie
My opinion but realistically think it will be Vincelot instead of Rowland unless Edwards holds and Whalley plays further forward

That side has only 1 player not signed by SR, assuming that Vincelot plays instead of Rowland.
So a complete transformation!

I think Vincelot for Rowlands (sadly) and that's the line up bang on.

Mad to think we had Kennedy, Loft and Holloway in our starting eleven for our opening game of last season. Coleman was a poor option in goal as well.

Assuming he starts it will be McCormick's first game in senior football. To also start with Rowland, also making his senior debut, would give us a very inexperienced midfield three and, again assuming he starts, put a lot on Edwards. For that reason I think Vincelot is the better option alongside Edwards and McCormick.

Ease him in, see how he does and maybe a couple of months down the line (with injuries, suspensios etc.) he get his chance to start.

Rowlands is a good prospect but as you say ease him in with a few games off the bench with 20 minutes to go.

I think they could later in the season and I think this would be a really positive/creative option but I just think they're too lacking in experience at this early stage in the season. I agree that McCormick or Rowland coming on from the bench after 60 mins or so could inject some pace and creativity but I'd start with Vincelot. I also think Edwards might struggle given his lack of pre-season game time however, I'm not Sam the Man and it down to him tomorrow. COYB

Agreed with above. Haven't seen any of pre season, but Rowland is 17 with no senior football experience. Would be a big ask to throw him in for the first game of the season against probably one of the leagues best sides. He sounds like an excellent prospect, and will certainly get some bench time (as you need 2 players who have been through youth team) - so Barnett or Rowland should be definitely there for next few months now Sears is injured, and Gregory and Mwandwe have gone out on loan. But for now, i'm sure it will be Vincelot, but i'm also hoping for another first teamer in central midfield to come in.

Edwards qualifies as home grown player so if he is involved then the youngsters don't have to be in an 18. That said I'd definitely have Barnett involved at the very least.

I thought it needed to be 2 now (so 1 on top of Edwards), but having googled it I can't find that. Must have dreamt it! So ignore my comment. Although i guess it still applies if Edwards isn't available

Giles could have his work cut out with Marcus Harness this afternoon. The signing of John Marquis has got all the headlines for Pompey but Burton fans were gutted to lose Harness, their star man, who they rated very highly.
