I'm boycotting this thread because it is no longer called the Checkatrade Trophy which sounds much more tacky and fitting.

Pity anyone who takes an interest in this woeful competition
Anyway, Ricketts threw the League cup, so he sure as hell won’t give two hoots about this shambolic tournament

Though why Ricketts Practically threw the League Cup but not this I don’t know. Doesn’t matter to me anyway, never been to a game in this abomination and don’t plan on starting

Thankfully as it is our only chance of some silverware in a National trophy. I remember being surprised with myself at just how gutted I felt on the final whistle against Lincoln, even though we had the small matter of promotion to also contend for at the time I really thought that would have been the day where we would have ended our Wembley jinx, hopefully if we do beat City B then we won’t face any more U23 sides for the remainder of the competition.

Unless the club announce otherwise there is no free parking at the ground for first team games irrespective of the competition we are involved in. It was permit holders only for the Macclesfield game in the first round. The only free parking has been for the two youth cup games which was announced prior to the game. To my knowledge the arrangements are have not been changed.

www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2019/december/interview-sam-ricketts-pre-manchester-city-u21/"You’re going to see a Man City team who play exactly like the first-team,” said Sam. “They do that all the way through the age groups and you’re going to see some really exciting young players."They play in this competition and in the Champions League of their age group. They very rarely play the same team. It’s going to very similar to watching the first-team."“We have our ideas of how we’re going to go against that. It’s good for their players to be challenging league footballers. It will be a good test for both sides. Some of these players will be really young but really good. Don’t be surprised if they become some of the best players around.”

www.mancity.com/news/eds/eds-news/2019/december/paul-harsley-man-city-eds-shrewsbury-town-preview"Impressive victories against Rochdale and Bradford City saw City top Group F to reach this stage and though we’ll conceded years of experience to Sam Ricketts’ first team, Harsley believes we can pose a different test to what the Shrews are used to.
“We’ve had a week without a game so we’ve been fully focused Shrewsbury,” he said.
“We’ll expect what we always get, a tough, physical challenge and we’ll go there with our playing style hoping to disrupt what they usually face.
“We always look forward to these games. The lads look forward to it. It’s a different challenge on a proper league ground and hopefully we can do what we did last year.”

Is it me or does it seem slightly odd that Man City first team and under 23's are playing on the the same night! I would have thought someone from the first team staff would like to see the young ones versus an older team!

I would have thought someone from the first team staff would like to see the young ones versus an older team! Sure with the huge backroom staff at the big clubs these days there will be at least someone with their feet in both the first team and under 21 camps that will be there.

The last of the under-21 sides (Leicester City) knocked out (by Newport County) tonight.
