i work for the queen anyway , who am i to argue with her if she tells me to stay away for 2 days because she wants to celebrate her birthday , it's going to be hell on saturday , mail and packets will be coming out of our ears thanks ma'am 😤 and what about those who want to enjoy it but have to work instead ? It’s fine for everyone to take the holidays if they can but, if they do, then I don’t think they should be complaining about the reason. It’s easily ignored without a lot of vitriol being spouted. I agree about people who have to work but would rather be celebrating and I don’t know what the answer is to that. I'd like to think I've only given constructive criticism ;-)

Not a royalist personally and dont really understand the system but a bit puzzled for a few years now as to why the Queen in her advancing years and obvious health problems hasnt stood down in favour of Charles. Doesnt she trust him. Perhaps she could consider skipping a generation and hand it to William who seems to be the best of a bad bunch. She deserves a bit of down time in a bungalow in the grounds of one of the castles but seems determined to see it out to the bitter end. I wonder what Charles thinks of it all. Did he really get into Mums bad books so badly over the Diana marriage that she has held a grudge for all these years. We will never know what really goes on behind the Palace doors. Stability, there is never a good time to change.
A much lesser mortal, whose name does not warrant mention on this thread, is using this excuse - now with the war in Uckraine and the energy price rises is not the time to change, to cling on to his job.

There is an argument from the vast majority of Royalists that William and Kate will be excellent at continuing the Queen’s legacy.
I do agree though that the majority of Royals need to be binned off and I think the Queen has been seen to be whittling down the number of working Royals.

The Queen is not going to Epsom tomorrow. Anne is going in her place . Trouble with her mobility is the official line . At 96 I’m not surprised . Hope she keeps well and settles down to enjoy the rest of these celebrations . Can’t believe I’ve written this as I am not a Royalist but credit where it’s due , got to say she has been pretty amazing .
The rest of the Royals can do one !

Even the most ardent republican might be forced to admit that the breakout stars of the TV coverage were Prince George and Princess Charlotte, eight and seven years old and visibly bored senseless by the whole thing: you were struck by the feeling that their parents might just give in and hand them their iPads at any moment.
Before Ross appeared, Prince Charles made a joke about the audience cheering loud enough for the Queen to hear them in Windsor. In the unlikely event that she could, you did wonder if the noise might have disturbed her while she was busy watching something else.
The Guardian.

I’m a royalist and haven’t watched any of it. Not my cuppa tea. Mass hysteria and role out the old rockers.

Comments from Telegraph readers:
'Thank goodness I recorded this programme because it meant I could fast forward through most of it. Adam Lambert will never replace Freddie Mercury, Rod Stewart has lost most of a voice which has never been great, the musical medley apart from Joseph was dreadful and I’ve never heard of most of the rest, and those I had heard of weren’t very good. No wonder the Royal children looked bored and, finally why did we have an American to finish? Haven’t we got talent in the U.K.far better? The best bit was the Queen and Paddington'.
'Impressive presentation. Well staged. Great lighting. It felt more like a celebration of minority groups in the UK than a celebration of the Queen’s jubilee. That is the BBC these days'.
'To start with it should just have been British and commonwealth artists - NO Americans.
So where were Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Cliff Richard, Sting, Coldplay, AC/DC, Take That, Madness, Kate Bush, Lisa Stansfield, Alison Moyet, Annie Lennox, Adele etc? Why weren't the Rolling Stones headlining? Or perhaps the Who or even dare I suggest it Led Zeppelin.
On the whole, well staged but low on quality and far too many artists singing one song - often out of tune or with time ravaged voices.
The Queen deserved better. This should have been a review of the best British and Commonwealth music from the 70 years of her reign'.
'Too many prerecorded platitudes'.
'Dance troupe Diversity offered a celebration of British pop in the form of one of those terribly sincere rap poems that have become a staple of bank and supermarket TV ads. “British pop music what a story to tell / From Dusty Springfield to the Spice Girls and Adele” is a couplet unlikely to go down in literary history'.
'Sir Rod is no longer able to sing and should bow out gracefully, and the Lloyd-Webber mash up was borderline toe-curling'.

Who is the nicest lady ever? I know you can’t be referring to that absolute disgrace aka that Spencer tart….who else has HRH decided not to like??? no need to take it out on me just because the Crown took you to court and banned you from watching football ;-) I’m fully appreciative of our royal family, particularly Her Majesty. Who has given her life to our great nation…I would even say I’m a fully paid up member of the royalist fan club:..I do however draw the line at the most over rated person in history!! She played the media to paint a picture of near saintly behaviour……in reality she was just a posh tart. The crown may have taken watching football away, but sky, bt and iPlayer gave it back, along with some blind stewards 👍

just watched the concert, it was pretty good, I've never liked that Freddie Mercury replacement though, and John Deacon shows his face less often than the queen herself these days.

Thing is though there could never be a replacement for Freddie Mercury (in my opinion).
