No Royal fan, but my God she is doing well, on the telly more than Fiona Bruce this week, and she sounds even posher. The women is how old, 93? I take my hat off to her. Madonna, queen of pop turns up on Eurovision and is embarrassing, but our dear old queen is still a world star.
Lords, Gentlemen and Ladies, let's toast to the Queen. Though I notice Prince Edward and Andrew are kept well out of it, maybe they should be just toast.

Surely it cannot be all about a life of privilege? I have to say she has served her country above and beyond and has done so for many years , I never thought I would say that . Now , did I see Charles at some point with a chest full of medals . What are they for ? Oh well , the thread is about The Queen and respect where it is due . I must be getting soft in my old age but I also thought that Theresa May did very well indeed . Both women a great credit to their Country .

When I look to the prize ****wittery of those who are currently engaged and directing UK politics I would be more than happy for the restoration of the monarchy tomorrow. Let's just drop the "constitutional" bit, even at 93 I'm sure he could do a better job than the politicians we have on offer. Gawd bless you ma'am...

I've got a lot of time for the Queen. But the younger royals who were supposed to give royalty a more "modern" look, act like a load of spoilt privileged brats.
No a fence.

And we could split into Republican and Royalist sections, which would be much less trouble than the Brexit business.

I’ve enjoyed the speculation about the symbolism of the jewellery she wore during Trump’s visit.

It might help make sense of your political posts to know you’re living in the seventeenth century! I agree Cromwell’s proving a disappointment but the new system needs more time.

No a fence. Which ones? I understood that William and Harry were universally adored?

Brilliant she is. Bringing up all those children, the washing, feeding and what about the baby sitting duties, cor blimey guv, she must be fair knackered. No wonder she goes on holiday as far away as possible , as often as possible, ( finances permitting , obviously) just to get a break. The modern day equivalent of Mother Hubbard, and no mistake.

You are as deluded as much as that ****wit Corbyn that you support. And as likely to be given a honour as he is. If I could bother to go back, I am sure I would find posts from you slagging off the Royals. Do one , SFB.

You would of course . I have in the past slated the Royals . At this time and in the circumstances I think it only right to acknowledge the role of the Queen . It is the right time to do this . My views on the role of the Royal Family in this day and age have not changed . Unfortunately you have failed to differentiate between my viewpoint and have decided to add ridicule to a very solemn and emotional occasion. Well done you . Think on and apologize in due course.

We are discussing the Queen., and how well she is. My take on that is, with the privileged life she has led, no wonder she looks as well as she does. Which solemn and emotional occassion have I ridiculed. Correct....none.
why Is this the right time to acknowledge the Queens role. Especially when, as you have alluded to, you have taken the opportunity to slate the Royals. HYPOCRISY of the highest order.
Worry not, there won’t be LETTERS after your name anytime soon.

The real pity is that Phil wasn't well enough to attend the dinner. Would have been some right Royal banter between the between the Duke and Trump.
Anyway, she does live in Britain's biggest council house and lead a high old life, but she did do a great job this week.

The Royal Navy sent three officers to my dad’s funeral earlier this week in recognition of his War service. His two medals were resting on his coffin and I said to one officer that his service did not warrant a chest full of medals like HRH Charlie. The guy said “maybe not, but your dad’s aren’t plastic”.

Give the Queen her due, she was in the ATS and so did her 'bit'. Both my paternal and maternal grandparents, though not great monarchists, respected the Queen for her service, and the Royal family for not leaving London during the Blitz. I mean, obviously they didn't take shelter in the Underground, but still. There's that link between QEII and what's left of the WWII generation, that the baby-boomers', Gen X (me I believe) and millennials' probably don't get.
As for Charlie's gongs. His mum has been around so long he's been getting those Jubilee medals that service personnel get (I've got one somewhere) and probably a 'long gong' (got one of them somewhere to) for good measure.
At least Exkeepers dad earned his.
