Just a case of the new man wanting to get his own people in. Very unfortunate but happens all the time, just hope it works out. It’s a shame DC is going, certainly wish him all the best.

Real shame this.
Personally, I think clubs need some sort of continuity in coaching staff, whether it be coaching, fitness, analyst, whatever. It help builds an ethos and keeps a sense of stability at the training ground.
It would appear DC was popular with the players and how they responded to short tenure in charge would back that up. Results weren't all positive, but we definitely saw a change in intensity and some belief.
SR needs to get off to a good start during the first 3 months of the season, otherwise, well we know....

Also, interesting time to release a statement.
Suggests more news today that can bury this story?

Imagine “One Danny Coyne” is going to be the most popular chant heard at the Meadow this coming season.

An excellent statement and the sort of words I would expect from DC.
A great shame that things have gone this way as the club needs people of loyalty and integrity particularly after last season’s shenanigans.
To paraphrase Oscar Wilde - to lose one good servant of the club (Mat Sadler) is unfortunate, to lose two is careless.
If this makes me sound old and sentimental then so be it.
Good luck to a man who served us and the club well in times of uncertainty and has maintained his dignity throughout.

If ssshrew can parrotface Oscar Willde, I am going to parrotface the comedian, Freddie "Parrotface" Davies. "I'm thick, thick, thick".
There's no doubt Danny was popular with the players, so I hope it's not a case of the Nick Jonas song, "Jello sea".

Sums up perfectly how I also feel about Danny and what he has done for the club. It's clear from reading his statement that there seemed to be little chance of him staying. The writing was on the wall, sadly.

I think you could be right jaytee. If it’s jealousy fine - it’s a natural human emotion but if it’s due to a lack of confidence then it could become a worry. Let’s hope not.

This is poor by Ricketts. He might well want his own staff, but surely he could have let Coyne know before the Walsall game so he could have said a proper good bye to us and the players. They bang on about staff giving more of a commitment by moving into the area and then they get the chop. Is one expearienced goal keeping coach that much better than another one ? The irony is there's not a keeper to coach at the moment...

The fact that he’s been a good servant to Shrewsbury Town and as a goalkeeping coach has been successful and popular under a number of managers including GT. MM and PH do wonder why he couldn’t revert to that job and be as successful again.
Be be very interesting to see who Ricketts brings in and the better qualities they have.
I don’t buy this ‘bringing your own team in’ the last 3 managers ((I’m including Askey even though one of his team was a successful keeper) have done that but not deemed it necessary to replace our ‘Keeper Coach’.
Obvious to me it’s a personal thing and Danny’s statement makes it worse because although dignified it was obviously a shock and wasn’t expected.
Hope he finds another role soon, thanks for your time at Shrewsbury....

the dignified statment you would expect from Coyne, whilst i understand managers wont there own backroom staff, the article from ricketts and coyne article clear indicate this was Ricketts decision. a loyal servant of the club treated shabbily by the club and the new manager.( rather petty that he was not given the chance to say goodbye to players and fans, i would speculate that Ricketts had made the decision before the end of the season) I have mentioned this before i cant recall the game Norburn got red card and was coming off the pitch Ricketts turned his back on him, whilst Danny went over and patted him on the back. says all you need to know about both of them.
sorry i did not get the chance to say goodbye but wish him all the best.

He was at the fan’s presentation evening and was interviewed by Ryan Jervis. It was a good interview and one where he reiterated that he had no wish to be a manager. There was no indication that he would not be with us for the next season.

While it’s true that football is a ruthless business it’s also one in which dishing out jobs to old pals is the norm.

And I also wonder whether SR's crazy decision to bring on Payne in one game, followed by the fans chanting 'you don't know what you're doing', had anything to do with this. DC had some words with SR, the substitution wasn't made, but perhaps the incident was stored in SR's memory banks.

I think this has very much to do with it . I feel SR is trying to protect his position. Could be wrong though.

Sensible decision, why do we need a gk coach when we don't have any keepers!!?!
Seriously though, good luck Danny, clearly a man of great integrity. Costs nothing but is valuable beyond words.
