There have been some very big euro lottery wins in this country with winners struggling to know how to spend it all. I just wondered if anyone on this board would help town in some way if they won the big jackpot. Perhaps join Roland on his board of two or maybe buy him out completely. Buy a couple of top players. Personally I would offer to buy the League One team of the season, knock down the blocks of flats on the old Gay Meadow site and rebuild a new Gay Meadow incorporating one or two of the old features like the scoreboard and open toilets in the corners. If anything left I would bring in Neil Warnock as Manager. All very unlikely as I don't do the lottery.

All very unlikely as I don't do the lottery. I was getting giddy at βknock down the blocks of flats on the old Gay Meadow siteβ (one assumes via compulsory eviction notices) but the denouement to your post was wonderful. What a joy to behold.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Whoever sanctioned the demolition of that iconic scoreboard should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

I'd chuck Roland a few million as a silent investor, but my main purchase would be the Ducks Head, Wellington and turn it into a site for the travelling community. Well we get told we all need to do our bit to promote diversity π

I'd probably get myself a box at the club, buy some friends and park my Bentley next to Rolands and annoy the s**t out of everyone even more than I do now ;-)

If I had a few million I'd leave the playing side to those who know the workings of the industry, though I would pop some loot in the transfer pot. What I'd most likely do, more achievable as a one-off investment, is offer to make improvements to the facilitiers for the fans - something more lasting than fleeting success that may or may not come from a one-off cash injection to the team.
I've always liked the idea of turnstiles back from the stands, so that once you are in you have the freedom of the whole home sections within the perimeter of the turnstile area - like cricket grounds. Would involve switching the away end to the south stand, so that turnstiles could be placed where the road side edge of the powerleague pitches are. They'd be scr@pped (though replaced on a brownfield site somewhere (at my expense of course!). Be like the fanzone but a hundred times better. You can have open concourses, more bars (with greater range of beers to encourage people to come in early) and food, benches etc outside. Football a winter sport though, so a glass canopy extended out from the stand a little to give extra shelter. A larger fans bar / social club, with a stage for match days (and also gigs outside of match days). And subsidised travel from around the county, to reach out to those outside of Shrewsbury.
Apologies if that is all too sensible, just something I've always thought would be a good idea if we had the money.

I'm sure that Roland would welcome the cash as a donation; but buying his shares ? I think that you might be surprised at his answer.

It's the last thing I would do personally.
Much worthier causes and organisations to throw money at.

Well we get told we all need to do our bit to promote diversity π Seems crazy to me that money hasn't come in to build residential stuff on the Duck shed and stick a multi sports stadium close to the Eastern Primary/M54, with additional sports facilities . Maybe adding a rugby league club to attract a new additional fanbase.
