was lucky enough to get an invite to tonights meeting from the supporters parliament
wasn't sure what to expect but presumably got the invite due to my position at B&A and presumably to report back to everyone what happened, so here goes
no secrets unfortunately, as much as we tried we don't get that some new faces there tonight too, and more than last time
sam and Jon have done some serious homework on our opponents , Leeds manager would be proud ;-)
as scooter has already pointed in not so many words, Roland deserves some massive credit for looking after the 'shop', LJL we do as a club have to oversee his re-habilitation and get him back fit, but could just as easily have released him but Roland has a conscience and offered the lad a contract, if we cant respect that, switch off now
yes, we are going to sign another keeper because we need 3
at least one of the loanees would love to come back and play for us and has said so and I hope he does too but we might not know until maybe its even too late
all returning loanees still have a chance, if their attitude is right, if its not sam will soon let them know and ensure they have no bad influence on his squad
sam only wants to sign players willing to give 100%, they must be as fit as a fiddle, quick, and even be willing enough to move here too
the players will be back in training June 20th and will be as fit as **** come the start of the season
he also hopes that you trust him and give him a fair chance ( he didn't so much as say that, hinted at it, but it was obvious that is the case)
I wished him luck myself

The 'Shop' will score some important goal at some point in the future, he'll see us right. It's written in the stars... Come on then Pilch, spill the beans...who is the loanee who wants to come back!?!? Can't be Docherty surely as I'm sure he should be more than capable of pushing for a starting role in the Scotish Prem. I'd love to think its Campbell but with him being subbed so much I'm not so sure he wants to head off someplace else and get 90 minutes in each week (if he can't get into the Stoke team I mean, is loaned out someplace else). And at least one? So one or two then? Docherty and Campbell to return would be absolutely fantastic!!! But its going to be Mitchell and Payne isn't it...

SR in his press catch up yesterday said 20th June. Looking to build the squad fittest as possible so will get them in early.

Was anything said about Mat Sadler going Or was that one of the things not discussed?

I asked about Sadler (during my late "Awkward questions" section ) They have never fallen out, acknowledged the respect he had in the dressing room but it boiled down to Ricketts own judgement as to when he judged its time to move a player on. He gave a anecdote about the same point in his career (think it was with Kenny Jackett) when he was told his time was up, he didn't understand but then said 2 years later they met up and he agreed with him. His powers were waning and he could not have done what Jackett was after then. Seems just like a judgement call, nothing more sinister than that. it happens in football all the time.

Thanks for that. I didn’t think it was sinister but just wondered the thinking behind it. If SR is speaking from his own experiences that’s fine by me. (Which I’m sure will be a great relief to him !!!!!!)

I’ve been impressed with SRs approach with the fans. The football side and results are obviously no.1 priority but Sam seems clued on that he needs a strong rapport with the supporters to help the team progress.
It won’t directly reflect in better results but it will provide some patience and allow him to build his team on his terms.

Over they years I’ve been to a lot of the Q&A sessions with managers and while I enjoy them I’m not sure they say that much really
Players being fit and quick probably could be said by any manager over the years, and wanting good loan players back is hardly surprising. Not knocking managers doing it but always take them with a pinch of salt now
Ricketts does seem really enthusiastic and keen which is great, but do wonder at times if he’s trying too much too soon; seems involved in everything and rushing left right and centre supporting the clubs activities. Quite common in new managers in all walks of life.
All this is great but maybe delegating some responsibilities and focusing on key areas is a way for him to stay fresh and keep his focus

Again, as one of the lucky ones to be there last night, I can certainly say I came away impressed and definitely have more faith in Sam and the team going into the new season.
He has a clear philosophy and plan for how he wants us to play next season and his recruitment and (and moving on of players) will reflect this.
A lot of research has been done as to what works in this division, and where we have fallen short of the more successful teams this year, and what we need to do rectify that.
I feel sure he and his backroom team and players (I was also very impressed with Jon Pitt - Performance Coach/#2), will give everything next year....
I'm far more optimistic.... COYB

Its more likely to get us more goals I think if the recruitment is right.

Understand that, as much as i'd like to know if everyone who attended is impressed i'm happy to wait for recruitment and be quietly excited and hopeful. I've been critical or Ricketts as the style of play has been woeful at times but i'll judge after pre-season and 12 games with his own team and own style. That said, the poor ****er has a job on his hands shifting out upwards of 8 under contract players.

But who are your other 3, bearing in mind we are keeping LJL, Charles Cook and Golbourne and Grant has taken up his option of another year? Beckles, Waterfall and Bolton (not signing) are the only 3 I can think of. But that would leave us having to bring in more or less an entirely new defensive unit!

I'm not sure, just have a feeling he'd want to bring in a couple more of his own players, maybe not, maybe he'd be happy with 5 and some of the ones he's brought already. There's generally always a surprise isn't there.

Did he at least indicate if he prefers a back three or a back four? he sure did This is the only dangerous precedent of the "secret" meetings. Some members in attendance playing the "i know something you don't know" making some fans feel less important than others. Personally doesn't bother me too much, but could see some people who've attended home and away every game for years feeling put out by not being a part of it.
