Fair play to Liverpool, never saw that result coming but you can never write them off at Anfield.

Well you certainly can't argue that this year's CL has been dull... Not just tonight: Ajax in Madrid Liverpool in Munich Utd in Paris City v Spurs Some amazing games. Good point. Much more excitement and drama than the top domestic leagues. The inevitable and logical next step is .....

reminded me of the Leeds goal v villa the other week ;-) I think it’s closer to the Villa goal v Leeds, although there was one Leeds defender making some sort of effort to stop that one.

Haha, it’ll come, whether we like it or not. Sort of already here sadly, while I'm sure all of the "top 6" set out with a desire to win the league, their primary objective now seems to be qualification for the CL, winning the PL is just a nice bonus.

Well..
I'd written off the Scousers after the first leg.
That is undoubtedly their best 'famous European night at Anfield' the commentators have been banging on about since the mid-70's.
Incredible. Amazing game!
Against the odds a little of a week ago. No one considered it. It's a chilling prospect for a lot of people..
Liverpool could win the European CL again.
How many times??
That's going to be intolerable. It's going to be even worse if City fluff The Premiership.
And it's going to affect your life. Your place at work. Down the pub. In the supermarket. Hysteria reached to a level never seen before.
C'mon City!
(clenched fists) Come on Manchester City! C'mon!!!!

Barcelona’s president pointed out that they’ve actually only met Liverpool and United once in the past several years. The Champions League is being rejigged to change this. It just seems inevitable and, if the domestic leagues all end up as predictable as Italy, Germany, France and Spain, I’m not entirely sure it would be worse.

But doesn't the fact that they don't meet that often make it all the better? If City or Liverpool end up playing Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus or whoever 4 times a season in some mini Euro league, it would soon all get pretty boring too.

Much more excitement and drama than the top domestic leagues. The inevitable and logical next step is ..... Not sure about that, I'd say the European Cup being just that contributes a great deal to the excitement. That it is a knock out, winner takes all competition (in the final stages anyhow) adds an awful lot to the games listed. Doubt you would have seen the same amount of drama and excitement if it was 12th placed Ajax against 5th placed Madrid with the games months apart. Or 10th placed Manchester against bottom of the division Paris. And so on. Not sure it's inevitable. These clubs want to be winning titles, that only one would be able to do so if a European league came about...not sure that would appeal to either club or fans. Think both would rather be winning domestic titles than a mid table finish year after year.

Brilliant, brilliant Liverpool !...but as expected the usual suspects have a dig at their achievement.
If you can't say something positive after a performance like that then just keep your mouth shut !!

Against that Barcelona team you have to just say “wow - that was one hell of a performance”. Well done Liverpool - let’s hope that they play Spurs in the final.

Only one word. Respect ✊
I asked before, if an English team wins the Champions League and Europa League do we get another 4 places if that teams in the top four?
Chance for Manure or not?

"If you can't say something positive after a performance like that then just keep your mouth shut !!" if they do then they are only showing themselves up as petty and narrow minded and they can choke on there bile.! that has got to go down as one of the most amazing comebacks ever, against one of the best teams in Europe .congratulations to Liverpool , i hope you can now go on and win it. i dont support Liverpool but it would be extremely churlish not to be pleased for them and there fans . i really hope they can now go on and win it , this must go down as one of the greatest come backs of all times

Really like the No Filter ones that BT sport do, they have all been great for the English teams... but that captures something magical in football.
One of those unbelievable games and results, like Brazil getting gubbed at home 7-1 in the world cup! You could just never see it happening..

No chance for Man U, they are in Europa next season if Liverpool or Spurs win CL, they are in top 4 anyway, so not relevant, and same if Chelsea win Europa Not sure what happens if Arsenal win EUropa, Will they let 5 into CL ? I didn’t think so, which would mean the 4th place missing out, but if that is Spurs and they win Cl, could Chelsea finish 3rd and be put in Europa ? i don’t know

Only just seen the highlights, what a shambles for the winning goal. Best team in Europe ( ) and they fall to a goal like that. If we had let that one in this board would be in meltdown wanting the manager sacked and the defenders to be dropped.

Chance for Manure or not? it won't happen again did once quote wiki in the 2004–05 FA Premier League. Liverpool had finished fifth in the table. The public reaction to this decision prompted UEFA to make a one-off exception for Liverpool to enter the tournament

Not a "one off" though was it, the rules changed permanently after that... probably a good call. biut wrird not having your champions of last year their to defend it.

Yes, I agree, although once every 10 years (which I think is how long it had been since United played Barcelona) is the other extreme. It must also get boring watching Bayern, PSG & Juventus win their leagues every season and La Liga and the Premier League are at risk of becoming more predictable too (31/37 wins for City is great for them, but less so for the league). But I believe the CL format is changing anyway, which is what the Barcelona president was talking about. I don’t know whether I think a European League is desirable or not but I do think it’s a logical development. Perhaps “inevitable” was the wrong word but I do think it’s more likely to happen than not, in the long term.
