the last similar game to this Saturdays was Pompey in 2013 last game of the season they were rock bottom with 32 points and long down we were just safe on 52 points you'll find the day around here blueandamber.proboards.com/board/31/shrewsbury-town-messageboard?page=366instead of a thread mentioning worst ever season, a thread was started asking about the best moment of the season blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/83427/best-moments-season?page=2its back when no-one moaned at the manager.and all looked forward to supporting him next season even though we'd just stayed up by the skin of our teeth the manager was a graham turner no one dared boo or comment about how bad the season was or how he has to go early next season if we get off to a bad start if they had have done, I probably wouldn't have been on my own defending him no one mentioned the importance of the upcoming Pompey game because that wasn't important either over 8k there too town won 3-2 seems to me that the only difference from that season to this season is if you use the previous season as a benchmark I really hope next season we still aren't comparing it to last season I think even Leicester don't do that anymore I don't understand how you can't grasp that after finishing 3rd and raking in about £4m, some people expected a bit better than scr@ping round the basement of the division all season and confirming safety (not even mathematically) on the penultimate game. I'm not saying we should have won the league or anything daft nor is anybody else, a few of us merely express the view that relegation shouldn't have been a concern this season. I'm not saying we're right and you're wrong but that's our view, is it that hard to take on board and stop talking down to those who hold this view point? we are Shrewsbury town relegation is always a threat before the season starts it was last season it certainly was this season it will be next season we'll be relegated before too long we'll come back up and go down again always have always will grasp that

Mad scenes at Southend as Stephen Humphrys scores late on to put Southend 2-1 up

It will be interesting to read what those who were at the game have to say but that, for the most part, sounded like a total non event of a game today.

Good support from both sets of fans, but the game was pretty poor. Walsall had a bit of a flurry in the second half as they had no choice but to go for it, we looked like we were going through the motions a bit at times. Still, not sorry to see the back of this season. Let's move on. Most disappointing part of the day, taking the gloss of seeing Walsall relegated, is knowing we will have to entertain the Franchise scum again next season instead. Sad day for football.

I can’t believe we were running the clock down happy with a 0 0 draw rather than trying to win in the last couple of minutes Pathetic

Yes must admit that I was hoping that Mansfield would have prevailed in that game with MK cocking it up in the play offs would have been a much better result.

I'd much rather have been playing Walsall next season than the franchise. For that matter I'd rather be playing anyone else next season rather than the franchise.

Correct. We wouldn’t have been relegated after last Sunday. Yes, poor season, we start again from this week. Sorry if I need to repeat it for you. Today actually didn’t matter whatever result we got.

What do you mean get a grip. I go to the matches to be entertained and see the team trying to win not happy with a 0 0 when the draw didn’t actually mean anything to our season.

Absolute joke and an embarrassment. No respect to the opposition. Playing for a 0-0 when we have nothing to play for - pathetic. To conclude on this season - we’ve been here many seasons before. Season full of hope at the start but ends has it has. Feeling depleted and wondering whether to bother next season. See you in August,

Sure Roland will be happy with this result, seeing his ‘mate’ the Walsall chairman relegated. Will no doubt have a big smile on his face tonight

on display today we saw two poor teams ; whilst town started brightly and edged the first half, we really lacked a cutting edge in the last third, a waterfall header and a save was the nearest town got to scoring, Docherty was a live wire, grant had a good game cutting out the threat. whilst Campbell occupied defenders and had real pace , his first touch was often poor. the service to both forwards was not the best i dont get fans who pay to come and then get escorted out by police after 18 minutes.
a few flares got thrown on the pitch which the stewards quickly delt with. as with far too many games town did not turn up for the whole game and today it was the second half. Walsall had numerous corners ,town defended resolutely. sorry that Waterfall was injured but nice to see Saddler come on for his last game in a town shirt.
Mitchell kicking was poor and did not carry much distance, a number went out of play, his punching was weak and ineffectual and often created more pressure on the defence , he also caused panic by spilling the ball twice.
the normally rock solid Williams had a mare today . town created a lot of there problems in the second by having virtually no game management. they needed to take the sting out of the game by retaining possession and slowing it down, instead we lost possession from poor distribution and struggled to keep hold of the ball , in a scr@ppy second half.
Whilst i understand they did not wont concede a goal, having every one behind the ball at corners and not leaving anyone up the pitch limited our ability to counter attack. we seemed content to play for a draw. laurent shot on target was one of the few chances town created in a poor second half performance. the only bright spot was sending Walsall down , in a game to forget unfortunately one of many this season. let us be grateful our league one survival did not depend on the result.

thought the ref was poor gave silly free kicks for virtually nothing, but he had nothing on the linesman on our side the one with the very short hair cut, he made so many mistakes it was getting laughable, he gave Walsall a free kick for when one of there players tripped over, numerous wrong throw ins , without doubt the worst linesman i have seen. the town players were getting increasingly frustrated with his decision.

crap game
glad to see Sadler come on and he did well when he did, particularly as we were under more pressure in the second half than the first.
bolton had a few good headers from corners, but aside from that there wasn't really a lot

Not seen town for a while but didn't think it was as bad as some seem to say, especially given its lack of significance. First half was decent enough at times. Thought Mitchell did well on the whole given lots of people in front of him and hanging crosses. Grant did his usual s**thousery, and defence held their own. Second half obviously a bit different. Disappointed Fey came off when he did but also felt all subs came on and looked lively. Not sure what people expected from a dead rubber really. Although syaing that I did find Laurents cheering at the end a little odd. Not sure if others did the same.
Interesting summer ahead.
Would think possibly only Waterfall, Beckles and Norburn will still be around from the team that started so another case of new team to start again next season

Cheering at the final whistle. Wouldnt think a 0-0 is usually cause for celebration
