www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11480934/bury-steve-dale-get-rid-stadium-debt/BURY owner Steve Dale is seeking to get rid of a £3.7million debt secured on their Gigg Lane stadium to help secure the club’s future. A number of secured loans were taken out by previous owner Stewart Day with Capital Bridging Finance, which has since gone into administration. he Shakers owner said: “We own the stadium, fact. There’s supposed to be a £3.7m debt on it but Bury FC only got £140,000 of that. “We’ve never seen the rest of that cash. It was used as a security for something else that had nothing to do with the club. Bury never got its due money. “In law, you must have received something to have owed it. Bury FC got f*** all. “I’m speaking to the mortgage company’s administrators and told them, ‘Let’s do a deal. You’re saying we owe X amount but you prove when that money went into our bank account and I’ll honour it.’ "We’ve not been sent that proof.” An investigation led by Damian Collins, the chair of the parliamentary sports select committee, discovered in October that a staggering £1m was paid as an “introductory fee” for the loan to an unknown person. Collins said: “The inquiry made clear that people profited a lot over Bury’s demise. Someone took £1m away.” And, meanwhile, Dale has told SunSport he has appointed a QC to lead a legal fight that will cost him around £250,000 against the EFL for damages following the Shakers’ expulsion. Some of his comments in this article are to say the least questionable.

How is the pheonix club doing, are they likely to be up and running in any league next season?
Much more likely to be a lifeline long term in the area i would think.

Bury AFC have been accepted into the North West Counties League, along with Isle of Man F.C. Due to the re-organisation of the lower leagues there are a further 8 places available in that league and 12 clubs have applied to move up to that level. To give you an idea of just how down the NWCL is, amongst the 12 applicants are 2 from Shropshire-: Wellington Amateurs and Allscott, yes that Allscott across the road from the old sugar beet refinery on the back road from Atcham to Shawbirch As for Steve Dale and Bury F.C, he may well have applied but there's nothing about his application being accepted. Non-League have far more stringent ownership rules than the EFL or F.A.Therefore anything he says to the press should be taken with a large pinch of salt

Been waiting for this one to come up. Yet another huge reason that the season needs to come to some conclusion and promotion and relegation take place as normal. There is an easy solution, points per game. Go sort it instead of buggering about. Then move onto next season. Lots of things to sort but at least that is in the future rather than retrospective.

He/they just don't give up do they When even well run clubs are feeling the squeeze in this worrying time, for Dale to still be peddling his hard done by story is pretty sad to say the least.

Quick question for Northwestman, You have been following developments closer than anyone else on here ( I did for a while but whilst I'm semi-retired I seem to be working harder than I ever did when I was a full time employee !) I've read on Beardymans Big Bury Board that quite a few Bury fans now see Stuart Day (SD1) as a bit of a fantasist, a dreamer with a plan to get Bury up to the Championship by assembling an excellent squad for season 2017-18. The plan then being that they would then be swimming in the money that being in The Championship can bring. On paper their squad was fantastic but there was major friction in the dressing room, plus Lee Clark as manager, resulting in the direct opposite to SD1's ambition...relegation. With SD1 knowing that his Mederco business empire was about to collapse did he sell to Steve Daly(SD2) for a £1 with the belief that this could save Bury? In other words, at that time, were Bury F.C part of the Mederco empire and if Mederco went down it would take Bury with it? I recall that this was how Telford United collapsed as they were part of Andy Shaws group of companies and when one went they all went Was that the case? Is this discussion on one of the Shaw grocery store. I'm in too doudts as you mention Shaws group of companies in the discussion. I'm worried for the Shaw employees the new and former employee are facing problem with login. So, I decided to share a login procedure which I found on site which really works to successfully login to direct2hr login Shaws portal as an employee.

Well, Day certainly sold the Club to Dale for £1 without Dale applying due diligence. It's a very complex story with lots of twists and turns. If you have the time to do so, go through my posts on this thread and you'll get a better understanding of the situation. There's quite a lot to get through though! For example, someone walked away with near enough £1 million 'introduction fees' when the mortgaging of Gigg Lane was arranged with a Company called Capital Bridging Finance Solutions, which itself has now gone into administration. This was taken off the sum eventually handed over to Bury. In the meantime, these articles might help to set the scene for you, although both are months old, and there have obviously been further developments since then: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/aug/26/bury-britain-gigg-lane-brexitwww.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/18/bury-inside-story-financial-ruin-winding-up-petition-loans-car-park

To clear matters up, Andy Shaw's group included The Whitehouse Hotels group and Telford United F.C.The Group went to the wall in 2004 and didn't include Shaws Grocery stores

More Dale ramblings:
Statement from the "Chairman"
There seems to be a lot of lies and propaganda spread by a small body of people purporting to be BURY FC fans, they are not, they have undermined our Great Club and caused trouble at every juncture and in doing so have threatened the very existence of our Club, if challenged they shout louder thinking that makes wrong, right, it does not.
Social media has become a Petri dish for vermin, it is the antithesis of all that is decent where lies prevail
So, let’s start by addressing facts and perhaps not in event order the allegations: I never wanted a Board position, I assumed Glen Thomas who introduced me to the Bury would be Chairman, the board felt due to his close association with Mr Day the fans would not like it, I initially refused but eventually agreed to take the post until we could get a football person I stated day one at our dinner at the village, I invested in Bury, the running of the Club would be left to Directors and management as I was not a football person or in good enough health. I would do all I could to help with the catastrophic financial position of the club but I was not an ATM and I would not bankrupt myself to right the wrongs of the previous owners. I would hopefully find a younger buyer who loved football to take it on soon. I have been true to my word and still fighting to save Bury some 20 months on with no help from anyone and indeed it’s still my aim to sell it on the right person once she is stable Buyers, there has not been one credible buyer, lots of talk, getting their name in the paper, one in particular met me once and somehow managed to get in every paper! MP’s getting their names in the paper, one alleged Buyer in particular went a bit further than most but then used the Stadium as the reason they did not proceed even though DAY 1 they were advised in detail of the position with it, or we have had the, you sort the CVA and you pay off your PG’s given against the Club, one even said get Bury back in the league and we will give you, ranging from £1 to £200k, so let’s get this right, I put a further c£1.5m in and you will give me such an incredible deal…really As soon as we realized the extent of the financial wrong doings, I contacted the Chairman of the EFL who initially said he would help but advised he had his hands full with Blackpool and Bolton, he subsequently left the EFL, after his initial chat NEVER did the EFL contact me to offer support, offer help or got involved in any way, other than putting obstacles in our way at every juncture, withholding monies to further exasperate the situation, I could go on.
Given this we subsequently contacted the Police who to date have done nothing to bring the people who have STOLEN both prior and, on my shift, and indeed have been proven by the Police and the Club to have stolen from Bury to justice, one wonders why our Country is in such a mess I HAVE NEVER been involved with the day to day running of the Club as I was unable to attend to achieve this due to health reasons, I helped when asked and as I could To this day I HAVE NEVER had keys to Gigg Lane or Carrington I HAVE NEVER been involved in the dealing with cash/gate monies or indeed any other form of receipt when the Club was running, in fact I don’t have a clue about gate receipts how they were collected or where they were processed, I left it to our very able Company Secretary who will I’m sure vouch for this. I while we were running fully, WAS NEVER a signatory at the Bank and had nothing to do with Nat West or Lloyds, again our FD and Co Sec dealt with that, I am however the signatory of our new Bank Bury Heritage and Social were formed to safeguard assets not miss-appropriate as anyone with a modicum of business knowledge would understand, given the perilous state of the Club Stadium, we owe some £3.7m on that and some £2.8m on carpark so to the clowns who say I want it to build on it (regardless of the Council never allowing it or indeed would I want to) one wonders how a secondary site, where only standard housing would be appropriate could or would be worth £6.5m Letting staff go, with a wage bill greater than income how would these bastions of knowledge propose we pay the £3.5m wage bill EFL, cancelling of Games and subsequent removal from league, a lot of subterfuge was used in this, unfortunately the pending Legal action prevents me from expanding, but it will all come out in the wash. A small bunch of Fans seem to need a scapegoat for Burys situation or indeed just to cause trouble, it seems its easier to blame me rather than the previous owners who caused it, where were these do good’s when the Club was being plundered for millions one asks and why do these self - proclaimed lovers of Bury do all they can to discredit it and tell lies on every forum they can trying to destroy the very thing they purport to love?
Forever Bury advise me they are taking stick from these very people for proposing to challenge the FA in their decision, once again hurting the very thing they say they love?
I have had Fans alleging they have threatened them privately and at there place of work for standing behind Bury FC?
One wonders what their agenda is, its certainly not the actions of Bury FC lovers. If, instead of looking to blame for actions long since committed, by parties long since gone and indeed unchallenged at the time, the Fans would have shown solidarity instead of splitting into different factions, got the facts from the source and stood together in the fight, Bury FC would have been in a very different position today
There is a saying “empty cans make the most noise, in my world we throw them in the bin”

You really do have to wonder how the latest statement helps in any way?
It seems that the chairman still has aspirations to reform the club at some point in the future.

They did apply to join the National League for the coming season which was rejected only a few days ago. The NL played along with Dale. As previously stated the NL are far more stringent than The EFL when it comes to admitting clubs who have directors who have been involved in previous indiscretions. There was no way that they were going to allow Dale, and the remnants of Bury F.C into their league. Dale was well aware of this and his statement, above, is a pathetic attempt to divide the growing support for Bury AFC. Only deluded fools would give that outburst any credence. Dale obviously has a long term plan for the Gigg Lane ground, truth is only he knows what his plan is but as sure as anything it doesn't include a football team playing there

NL have just had Macclesfield dumped on them - lets see how they deal with that!!

Would be very surprised if the NL accept Macclesfield given their dodgy owner and players not being paid

Not so sure about that. Forever Bury are asking for fans to raise £2.5 million to pay off debts and buy the ground. Relations not good between the new club and these trying to keep the old club going

Can see the possible conflict of interests between the 2 groups at the minute. Surely once Dale has gone they can come back together as 1 club, that is what is needed in the situation really.
Really hope they can come back from these last few years in some form or other, they needed to go through this to sort out all the dealings from recent years but I would want them to get back to our level at the earliest opportunity.

Really hope they can come back from these last few years in some form or other, they needed to go through this to sort out all the dealings from recent years but I would want them to get back to our level at the earliest opportunity. Don't be fooled by the article in the S*n - it's written by a journalist friend of Dale's and full of unsustainable promises which have been broken time and time again. Also, the crowdfunding is a shambles (after 2 week less than £4k pledged towards a target of £2.5m) which is organised by the small number of people left at Forever Bury - a so-called Supporters 'Trust' who are working hand-in-glove with Dale and which used a substantial amount of their members funds last year to block a legitimate call for an EGM. Anyone donating money to this cause is in need of help!! The undue haste to raise cash (evidenced by setting up two separate appeals for £2.5m at the same time) is a result of the impending change in legislation on 1st December giving HMRC preferential creditor status, which means that Dale won't be able to push through another CVA to avoid Bury FC's outstanding tax bill - not that he paid a penny of the previous CVA he promised to honour! The best (and most likely) outcome is a winding up petition to put an end to this disgraceful charade. Meanwhile, Bury AFC are playing football and despite Covid restrictions have over 1,500 members donating a minimum of £5 per month to their cause (and have reportedly sold over 2,000 replica shirts!). They currently have to hold ballots to allocate tickets for members to watch football in the league below Whitchurch Alport! Best of luck to them, I say.

What is the latest on that incredible mortgage they have on the stadium?
