The bottom line is that 17 games is not enough time to judge any manager
Comparison between the two over such a short spell also takes no account of who we played in those 17 games I.e. a draw away to Sunderland is surely more impressive than one against Wimbledon??
Generally history shows ‘sacking’ clubs struggle over time while those that hold their nerve are often rewarded e.g. Norwich & Sheff U kept faith with Farke & Wilder during very poor runs last season.

SR has had to try to work with Askey's journeymen.
Where do we possibly start with the new summer recruits ... Gillead, Waterfall, Loft, Angol,.. am so bored can't even be bothered typing the names.
Askey relegated us, as anyone who attended the opening game vs Bradford could see.

Askey relegated us, as anyone who attended the opening game vs Bradford could see. And yet Askey left us outside the relegation zone where SR has taken us closer to it.

can we change the title of the thread now to Ricketts Wins ? Like Askey, Ricketts 2nd batch of 10 games producing far more points than his 1st 10. You’d think our fans would learn before pulling out the now all too familiar negative chants

can we change the title of the thread now to Ricketts Wins ? We’ll never know cos Askey didn’t get more games so head to head we’ll never know.... Askey got a great win yesterday and has averaged 2 points a game over the last 5 Ricketts has averaged 1.2 points over the last 5 games Not sure what this proves mind 😳

After a slow start Askey’s steered Port Vale well clear of the trapdoor into non league.

After a slow start Askey’s steered Port Vale well clear of the trapdoor into non league. last five games 3 wins ,one draw , and one loss 10 points from a possible 15 and 8 points clear of a relegation place and up to 19th. whilst not a fan of Vale i do hope Askey can turn things around and be successful.

Grant, Norburn, Laurent, Amadi-Holloway, Okenabirhie, Docherty (L). It may not be the class of 17/18, but I’m quite warming to this bunch of players...or else that sunny Southend feeling hasn’t quite worn off yet.
