A football reporters article has Luke Waterfall in the top 10 of under-rated players in League 1 who are pivotal to their teams success. He is described as winning everything in air in both boxes and has made 519 successful challenges, more than an other player outside the top four teams.
Also says he failed to hit the ground running but has since settled in well and showing the form that made him a fans favourite at Lincoln.
Interesting neutral view on a player who has more than his share of critics. Mostly unfair in my opinion but think his pairing with Williams will be the making of him.

If anyone's looked at the article, these are all just based on suggestions from Twitter folk. Salopcast said Sam Smith (!)
This suggestion was from @olliee115

Yes, I too have noticed a vast improvement in Waterfall in comparison to how he started off with us. Fingers crossed he can maintain it. But no matter what, my player of the season so far - by miles - has to be Grant.

Think I'd probably agree.
Like many I wasn't overly convinced by Waterfall when he first arrived, and he's clearly not a silky ball-playing modern centre half, but he'd be one of the first names on my Town team sheet at the moment.

Success? Success can be occasional. Some might say that heightens the experience .....

Waterfall and Sadler together was a match made in hell unfortunately, Waterfall is probably only still in the team ahead of Sadler because of his aerial prowess at both ends of the pitch, he does seem to be doing well in a back three now and I think bringing in a centre half with pace and also comfortable with dealing with the ball on the floor (Ro-Shaun Williams) was crucial.

We saw it last year, how well Sadler and Nsiala complimented each other. Waterfall has improved as the season has gone on. At the start of the season, he was just aimlessly hoofing it upfield but he isn’t doing that as much now. I’ve come around to him now, he’s a proper battler and has put in some terrific performances this season. Ro-Shaun Williams has really helped him out too, a key signing for us.

Absolutely correct. Waterfall is still vulnerable but having Williams alongside him is better than having Sadler. Our defence still finds crosses difficult to deal with, including set-pieces and I would like to see someone better than Waterfall in the side. But, there is no doubt that he has stuck at it and done as well as I can.

Said it all along, Waterfall is a decent League One defender. Alongside Sadler he was defending for two. Sadler has been a great servant but it's clear he's lost a yard this season.

Most improved player as the season has gone on.... hard to argue with that.
But the whole set up has been built around the vulnerability he has, 5 at the back, pace to cover his lack of it. It works, but leaves us at times a little defensive minded. With the right wing backs and the three CBs we have in now though and there could be something to be excited about next season.
Hes not going anywhere and if he keeps this up, I predict a Terry Dunfield esk changing of the overall fan view of him by mid next season.

now first name on teamsheet glad he stuck at it because lesser characters would have sunk without trace the amount of grief he ,said all along he needs pace round him all other attributes he has in abundance.

I have always challanged the critizism of him this season. He is a decent defender and the threat at set pieces is invaluable. If we had natural wing backs and a better cb to replace beckles our defence would be solid!

Waterfall.....great in the air but decision making and lack of pace is the reason he plays L1.....if he was quick and had the decision making skills of Sads et al he’s be playing championship footy
