According to the BBC Sport site, the administrators have accepted an offer from the fans consortium and the club will be allowed to continue. Sounds good. Cheers, yes, great news. We still have our club! It's tinged with sadness though, as some players and staff have been released for financial reasons. Particularly hard that players on the injury list have been let go. One new signing gave up a good job and successful part time playing career at Halifax to go full time with us, made a really good start, got injured in his third game and needed an operation and now he's unemployed. Rugby league's no gravy train for the vast majority. How the old regime could possibly justify paying a reported £450k a year for 3 directors' salaries (£210k for the chief exec), at a club with gates dipping below 5,000 beggars belief. Shameful in the circumstances. But anyway, the community rallied and, less than a week after going into administration, the club is saved. It'll still be tough because the new owners aren't rich and we restart on -8 points in a league with only 2 points for a win and 23 games to play. A relegation battle awaits but, after the trauma of the last week, bring it on! Don't know whether you saw but another potential buyer was Steve Dale, the new owner of Bury FC. That deal seemed all set to go ahead yesterday but he wanted to buy the stadium too and the council refused to sell. We'll never know how that might have developed but I'll be keeping a keener eye on Bury from now on.

In regards to Widnes RLFC (I refuse to call them the Vikings as I am pre Sky Sports!), I was born and raised in Halton View, Widnes. I was a massive Chemics support in the early to mid eighties before being forced to move to London due to Mrs Thatchers conservative policies, i.e. Feck the north, but I became disillusioned with the sport once Sky sports turned up with there mega money! They wanted us to merge with Warrington, but we refused, and ever since then we have won jack! We have been forced to stagger from one crisis to another and please let us not be like Bradford Bulls and get back to where we belong! Up the Chemics! A fellow Chemic in, or connected to, Salop!? I'm from the other side of the water (Runcorn) but have supported Widnes since my grandad first me. I count myself lucky to have seen the great days of the 70s and 80s, as well as the many struggles. I'll be there with my dad and my brother on Sunday - should be an emotional day and fantastic atmosphere. The fans deserve it, as well as those staff and players left high and dry (and skint) by the old regime. I wish I could find my old ICI C&P jersey for the occasion. Strangely enough, I have no real connection to Shrewsbury! A friend of mine me to a home game back in 82-83, Barnsley (won 3-1), and I thought this was great fun. I'm a Liverpool fan and watching all this thud and blunder in old stadiums really appealed to me. I also really like Shrewsbury as a place, as it is slightly different to Widnes! So my friend stopped going to games so I ended up going on my own by train! Highlight of this period, going to St Andrews and winning 2-0 on the last day of season to stay up in 86-87, sending Sunderland down! moved to London in 87, and started following them around the south and southeast via British Rail and National Express coaches after getting priced out of most Liverpool games.

I’d like to see the link regarding who is supposed to be taking the club over. As far as I’m aware from very reliable sources, the receiver is running the show with a new board and managing director. There has been no hint of new owners.

Blimey, I knew Widnes were in trouble but didn't realize it was as bad as that. I knew there was talk of a relocation some time past. I think rugby league in general is struggling financially and I suspect that would hit a club like Widnes harder than most coming from a relatively small town. At least some good news coming from the club today...

RFL ratification of the takeover is hoped for today - as is confirmation that Sunday's game is on. Still not confirmed.

Oh boy. We don't need a third successive "interesting" owner. Might have dodged a bullet there!

Big weekend ahead for me - huge 6 pointer at the Meadow tomorrow and an emotional celebration at the Halton Stadium on Sunday (where we have the little matter of a minus 8 points deficit to begin to address!).

Poor deluded fools. The evidence suggests they need a rethink.

5200 tickets sold for their first home game without the Oystens. Hoping for a full house apparently.
Let's hope it happens.

I'm not too up to speed on his time at Swansea, why wouldn't he pass the fit and proper test?

I've read that but I'm still unclear on how it relates to the fit and proper test?
