SR will not be sacked before the end of the season but where do we go from here?
If we do stay up - do we really trust him with a transfer window and a full season in charge?
If we go down, do we trust him to get us back up?
Can’t see Roland sacking him either way unfortunately. Personally, I can see us getting relegated and at best finishing mid table in the league below next season!

Ricketts has a few more games in which to turn this around for me, until say the middle of Match during which there are several fixtures where we should be looking to pick up plenty of points if we're to have a chance to stay up. For example games against Wimbledon, Rochdale, Plymouth and Wycombe.
If we're no better off by mid March I would give the job back to Coyne and Ramsey until the end of the season. I don't see that anything would be lost by doing this.

The last few. Home games remind me of the final weeks of Mr Mellon, poor quality football, zero entertainment and a manager who had become clueless.
The next move is an urgent meeting in the boardroom followed by the return of our previous coaching duo

The next move is an urgent meeting in the boardroom followed by the return of our previous coaching duo I agree. Perhaps Ricketts should be given until the Plymouth game, but I have absolutely no faith in him turning things around. Sooner or lter I think the board will decide that it's better to roll the dice than to accept the status quo. If we go down we'll only have to pay him off anyway.

Can easily see attendances falling to 4500 in League 2.
Sorry Crawley at home isn't a crowd puller...

So how many managers do we need to go through this season? Just keep 'rolling the dice' until something clicks? The idea that we trot out a GK and Youth coach to save our season is clutching at straws. Ricketts clearly has qualities. If we could have transferred some of our cup performances into league pints this would be a moot conversation. As it is, we're in the do-do and I like many others, are not entirely sure if SR is up to it. So.... Does it bring us back to the Askey scenario? Do the 'disenchanted' push for yet another regime change whilst we are in the middle of a relegation battle? Not sure that will help our cause any at all.

14 games to go and we need 6 wins
Does anyone think Mr Ricketts can achieve such a feat?

Form-wise, things objectively can't realistically get much worse. Tactics and motivation wise, it's clearly more subjective. However, I doubt you'll find anyone who's regularly watching Town at the moment who thinks Ricketts is succeeding on either front, and few who expect him to turn it round. I'd have to say yes, roll the dice. If we shake a 1 or a 2 we'll go down. If we don't touch the dice at all we will...also probably go down. In such circumstances, you might as well at least try the dice. We can save the permanent appointment til the summer, but Coyne and Ramsey are the only ones who've got anything out of this squad this season, so giving them the reins again isn't a total stab in the dark.

We scrape out of relegation. Missing four midfield players today, three of them arguably our best players. So all in all a decent enough point.

All managerial appointments at this level are a gamble right? The Hurst phenomenon was an outlier. We may never see the likes of that again. I certainly didn't see that coming and I suspect nor did he. I'm happy to try and make a case for Ricketts in the same way I did for Askey. Clubs who have a high churn of managers go one way and one way only. Jettisoning managers before they they can embed their own players and ideas is suicidal. Ricketts. Technically 18 games in charge so far. Plenty 'Meh' performances in there like Fleetwood, Blackpool, Burton etc. Some pretty dreadful ones too like Charlton, Bradford & Luton. On the upside we've also had Sunderland, Stoke x2 & Wolves x2. For me there is potentially enough there to suggest he'll make a fist of the next 14 matches. I'd suggest that the hectic schedule, the cup distraction and embedding new Jan signings have muddied the waters for him. Not convinced he knows what his best starting 11 or formation is but potentially we are looking at a manager who will genuinely rotate squad and tactics each week to try and get the best result possible. A million miles from Turners reliable 4-4-2 and Hurst's steady 4-3-3 but we have a fledgling manager learning on the hoof. Really hope we can grab a win soon and avoid the toxicity we reached so early in the season. We'll play such a vital part in the run in. No matter what our feelings on who is in change it's obvious we need to be a force for good for our clubs sake.

Most the time it is like watching walking football, we are so pedestrian. The football is boring and predictable. We haven’t got a clue how to take thrown ins, we more often than not lose possession immediately after a throw in. Or we play hoof ball, it really is drab stuff.

As you go through the various threads poor old Crawley are getting a few mentions. What have they ever done to us. I think we should be apologising to their fans on our awayday next season.

Glass still half full. We are currently just 5 points off 15th place......which I expect is about where we will end up. The whole season will later appear to be a bad dream to some, cup performances apart, when in fact for Town it is pretty average and given the truly massive player and staff turnover, expected. And if we cant make up 3-7 points in 14 games over the collected dross that is currently just above us, I may need more than just that remaining half-pint !

Strange reading about our bad throw ins. 40 years ago I played for a Sunday League team that was coached by an ex pro and football league manager who used to tell us that a big difference between amateurs and pros was that amateurs didn't know what to do at throw ins.
Therefore he included throw in drills in every training session.
Maybe coaching methods have changed over the years.

Relegation this season would be disaster.
Can't see the club sacking SR this season...the only realistic roll of the dice we have left is to appoint an experienced assistant.

The sooner the better, that is if Ricketts feels he needs one? If he says to Roland..."Need an assistant, no thanks Mr Chairman, I know what I'm doing"... then we are definitely deep in it

The most worrysome thing for me is that we've got both analysts and performance coaches in the backroom team at the moment, and yet our teamwork, communication and overall mental state is some of the worst I've seen in recent Town squads. We don't talk, our link up play is non-existent, when in possession no-one is moving off the ball or looking for the next pass(es) and our heads drop so quickly when we're up against it.
Norburn points and blames a lot. Grant started off okay but seems to have lost his voice when it's most needed. Sadler in fairness has never been the vocal type. Waterfall tries but his play is suffering in other ways (being kind...).
We desperately need someone in there who will lift spirits, raise heads and fill hearts with hope and determination and we need people to stand up and be counted and earn their corn - and I'm not referring to players.
