The dragon ordered me to take her to see Stan and Ollie. I duck the chance to go normally, as I'm not a real film buff. Every Juan was going on about the great performance of Steve Coogan, but for me John C Reilly was absolutely brilliant as Ollie. It wasn't meant to be a comedy, it wasn't, it tells the story of the duo at the top, then on their way down for a varity of reasons, so it's very sad in places. Good to see some Town fans there swelling the afternoon performance to about 40 people.
There was Juan thing I found totally unbelievable, I didn't think any Juan could eat that much popcorn.
You been to catch a film lately?

Rarely go to the cinema but went to see the Stan and Oliver film, Steve Coogan was very good as Laurel.

Only tend to go these days when it's something for the kids. We're taking them to see a new Lego move this weekend. Can't recall the last time me and Mrs went just the pair of us but it could be as far back as catching The Lord of the Rings each time we were back in England for the festive period. Not just having the time either to be honest, it's daft prices these days...for the most part we hold on until it's available on Netflix... Do miss having someplace local and cheap to pop down and catch something. The Picture House in Rugeley is now a 'Spoons unfortunately. From that point on my visits to the kino nosedived pretty sharpish...

We have a film show at our local village hall once a month.
It's good fun, a real social event and a chance to catch up with local gossip!
There's a bar and local Cheshire ice cream at the interval and the cost is a fraction of what you would pay at some cinemas.
It means having to wait a while until the big films come around but it's worth it.

I too rarely go as I’m not really into films at all, don’t even watch them on TV when they are free. Went before Christmas for the first time in probably 25 years with Mrs Grizzly to watch Bohemian Rhapsody and really enjoyed it, but that was probably because it was a story rather than some made up scenario. Maybe I should take a look at Stan and Ollie. Have to say the cinema has changed a hell of a lot from the old flea pit that I used to go to as a kid.

Yep, me and Mrs H now go quite regularly to the cinema, well mainly one cinema and that’s the one in the Square in Shrewsbury. It’s a small cinema, but has some great films. You have to book early before all tickets are sold, and don’t mind the smell of ammonia cos the place is full of old, retired ****ers like us who have the time spare to go during the day, morning or afternoon. Got tickets for Beautiful Boy and The Favourit, and thinking about seeing Free Solo, about Alex Honnold free climbing the 3,200 foot rock face with no safety devices. Absolutely incredible feat, but it’s bound to make your toes curl. Anyway, if going try to book the “double seats” at the back, not for any heavy petting session, that ship sailed long long ago. No, because it gives you lots of leg room so you don’t get cramp. Age never comes alone, enjoy it cos it’s better than the alternative!

Usually go about once or twice a month (manage to get hold of cheap tickets!!) and have seen 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Stan & Ollie' and 'The Favourite' over the past month or so. Not sure what to make of 'The Favourite' - not quite what i was expecting and got really dark towards the end. Enjoyed the other two. Hoping to see 'Green Book' and 'Vice' over the next couple of weeks.
Was intending to go to see the afore-mentioned 'Free Solo' last Saturday but didn't make it unfortunately - heard good things about that though. Though if you are frightened of heights recommend you stay away!

I saw Green Book yesterday, mainly because I saw Mahershala Ali in Moonlight and found him mesmerising. I enjoyed it but I don’t think I’ll be lying awake at night thinking about it as I did with his previous film. Also saw Mary Queen of Scots which was much better than I expected and told from her point of view rather than the pro Tudor view you usually get.

Dont go as much as I used to, but mainly due to being able to wait to see most films that come out (with Sky and Netflix you get to see everything eventually)
Like the above will take kids to see the Lego movie at the weekend. Think the last thing me and the mrs went to see was Jurassic World 2, which was a bit of a let down.
I watch a lot of films though on sky/netflix. Watch Monday night the Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix, cohen brothers western. 6 independent story's. Really enjoyable film.

I haven't been to Cineworld in time, but if i did go, i'd rather go to Odeon Luxe in Telford then one of the new food offerings in the Southwater complex. The Luxe offering has comfortable, reclining seats and you can take a beer/glass of wine in.

Can’t say I go to often.
I got dragged along to see Overlord recently and was pleasantly suprised that it was quite good.
Last film that I came out of and was blown away by was Baby Driver, a great cinematic experience with the music going along to the action.
Next film I want to see is Jojo Rabbit (out this year). Looks like a dark comedy set in Nazi Germany and it’s by one of my favourite directors Taika Waititi. Hunt For The Wilderpeople and What We Do In The Shadows are two films of his that is highly recommend, two of my all time favourites.

Glass is good, but you have to watch Unbreakable and Split first. McAvoy is brilliant.

Saw Stan and Ollie at the Old Market Hall. Always mean to go more often, but I do struggle to hear at times. Seems a bit better with my new hearing aids

Recently seen Stan and Ollie (fantastic), The Favourite (something a bit different but nothing amazing and disappointing ending), A star is Born (enjoyable) and Bohemian Rhapsody (Remi Malek is becoming one of my fav actors after this and the simply mesmerizing Mr Robot).

I very rarely go to the cinema, but I well remember going to seeTitanuc at Telford and was blown away by the special effects. I walked into the toilets in the interval and the water was ankle deep. Apparently though, this was entirely due to a burst pipe.

Nice article on The Empire, I remember watching many a film there.
Grease - me and a mate got there at 10am to beat the queues, there was only one couple in front of us and by 2pm it was queuing around the corner onto Smithfield Road.
Jaws - got there too early with my mate and his dad and ended up watching the end of the afternoon showing
Life Of Brian - managed to get in with a school friend, we were 13 and LOB was for 14+ (AA), so we were dead chuffed especially as a few schoolmates had tried and couldn't get in. The supporting film was Airplane from memory.
Best film I saw there was Close Encounters of the Third Kind, it was spectacular on the big screen. From memory it was shown not long after Star Wars Episode IV which was the big summer film.
However, the first film I saw at the cinema (that I remember) was at the old Granada, now Gala Bingo, it was Snow White and that witch scared me to death.
Such a shame the Granada and Empire had to go. I believe there was also The Century at the bottom of the Cop but I never went in there
