so we face Wolves a local derby cup tie ,Wolves are 8th over the last five games they have won Two ,drawn one and lost two so can town do a cup upset ?
which formation would you like town to play?
which players would you pick ?
one problem we do have is the forwards
Smith is not eligible for the game ,Holloway went off injured in the reserve game. so who do we play alongside Ferjiri? play Angol and hope he tries in a cup game ? or play someone out of position?

If Amadi-Holloway doesn't recover in time I think we could see a similar formation to that used at Sunderland and in the first game against Stoke. That could mean Laurent furthest forward in a central position with, possibly, Okenabirhie and Gillead flanking him.
Alternatively we could see a fairly negative 4-5-1 designed to frustrate and stifle Wolves. Let's be realistic, if Wolves play anything like a full strength midfield we're going to seriously struggle to compete with the likes of Neves, Moutinho and the very gifted youngster Gibbs-White.

it would make no sense to play edwards if we are to get him fully fit and see what he can do for us the league has to be the priority

We've rushed players back before (Whalley) and paid the price. Hope we do give it a go! Be interesting to see how seriously Wolves will take this - would imagine they would field a strong XI as they are comfortable in the PL and the cup could be a reasonable objective for them.

let us hope this is a classic David V Goliath battle with the under dog coming out on top up the blues.

I would be inclined to keep Edwards back for the replay. That would be a great game for him.

Dawned on me last night that each and every time I have made a specific effort to get over for a game its gone tits up big time. That's looking way back to Histon away, to the Cup game against Chelsea, all three play off finals...all been complete disasters. So with Nicko on this one; I just want them to give it a go, leave nowt on the pitch, just do ourselves proud... Just not another game where I'm thinking "why the **** do I bother"...

I'd have to disagree with you with regards to the Chelsea game, where I think we gave it a good go. But I'm assuming you meant the League Cup game in 2014 against them. The F.A. Cup game in 2003 was indeed dire. Liverpool and Manchester United at home and all the games at Wembley though..I can see your point entirely.

I was over anyhow for the Everton game but made the effort to fly back for the Chelsea game just to see 90 minutes of Town being schooled by Zola and Co...

At some point during that clip, the commentator says "Hayes" and on the ball is someone who you think looks like a 1970s rocker/football hooligan. Would that be 'Animal' Hayes I've heard mentioned before but never seen a picture/video before?

Steve Hayes, a no nonsense tough tackling defender. He wasn't a first team regular but my goodness I still wince today when I remember some of his tackles.

If I remember correctly he played right back in this game as Jake King wasn't available. My lasting memory of him is one of his clearances rocketing into the Riverside buffet and knocking everything flying. He was proper old school.

1979. Who went? My Dad did and queued up Wyle Cop for his cup replay ticket! Yes, I went to both games. Great memories, I was so gutted when we didn't beat them in the replay as I was confident we would. We seemed as close to invincible that season as I can remember a Town side ever looking. Strangely, as the Molineux pitch was so bad, that didn't stick in my memories of the day at all. It was only much later when Meadow Memories came out that this became apparent to me.

Some programme notes from the 1979 game at Molineux including a team photo. Steve Hayes is middle row, third from the right.

We were pretty much invincible that season but after going out to Wolves and starting to catch up on league games we had a couple of very worrying wobbles in the next few games such as losing to Bury and a thrashing at Blackpool before settling down to finish the season off in style. To think after the big freeze relented we played at least 2 games every week (sometimes 3) for around 3 months. Imagine clubs being expected to do that these days.

All we can hope for is Town give it everything they've got and just hope Wolves have an off day. Fingers crossed.

it must have been hard for him but it is the sensible decision, he needs to take the time it takes to get fit and help us with the rest of the season

Each season you could do a bingo for cut and paste BBC articles like this: -Mansfield have a female CEO -Shrewsbury beat Everton -Accrington were featured in an advert -Radfords goal for Hereford gets used...despite Hereford United going bust -Forest Green are owned by a madman
