Holder and Dowrich have played superbly today.
This game has obviously gone but I'm worried about the effect this is having on Anderson and Stokes for the remaining two tests. Stokes, for example, has only once bowled more overs in a test match than he has in this. It's a shoe in that Broad will come back in Antigua next week, depending on what the pitch there is like there may be an argument for also bringing in Woakes.

373/6 Windies lead by 585.... More than enough you would think Root and Jennings have now bowled more overs than Rashid

They're keeping England, and particularly the pace bowlers, out in the heat for as long as possible and you can't blame them.
It will probably be a different story when the Windies quicks, who've had their feet up for the last day or so, come steaming in against physically and mentally tired England batters in a while.

18 wickets on day two, no wickets on day three, strange game this.
Good stuff from the England openers this evening, particularly Burns who played very nicely. It's important that the batters show some fight and take something from this innings into the next test even if, as is almost certain, it's in a losing cause.
Pitch now looks very flat.

How the hell does a bang average, even part time, off spinner like Roston Chase take 8-60 on that pitch? Even more baffling when you consider how well England played spin in Sri Lanka. A good knock by Rory Burns but nothing like enough from the remainder of the batters today.

I don't think you got what you wanted. Too many out to loose shots. Lack of application. We seem to have nobody in the top order able to play a long innings, whilst the middle order are too white ball orientated.

It's the travelling England supporters who I really feel for. It's a long way to travel to watch your team humiliated 😕
It was a shocking batting performance by England but hats off to the Windies, they clearly didn't read the prepared script!

I've just had a photo from my sister of her sitting on a beautiful white-sanded beach, under a perfect blue sky, cocktail in hand. She's not taking the humiliation too hard!

Test match finishes early = more beach time. I suppose I could live with that too 😁😁😁

She off to Antigua next then? Antigua and St Lucia. Someone has worked things out very nicely for the British tourists with regard to the Test itinerary. The 3 Tests are to be played at Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia. No Jamaica, Guyana or Trinidad.

Away from the highs and lows that is Shrewsbury Town FC, England have dropped opener Keaton Jennings for the second test. In comes Joe Denly, on debut.
Hopefully England make much more of a fist of it second time around.

Three of the most expensive destinations, no coincidence I think with the large English travelling contingent. Years ago a tour to the West Indies with no test matches at venues like Jamaica, Guyana or Trinidad would have been unthinkable. All about the money these days. Something else that I didn't know which I only heard at the end of the last test. The West Indies board have to foot the bill for all England's hotel expenses on this trip. Apparently they had made arrangements for this for the four day game that was planned before the first test and weren't best pleased when the game didn't go ahead.

Hopefully England make much more of a fist of it second time around. Given the comments before the tour that the England hierarchy wanted a settled top three going into the Ashes they had to do this now rather than delay. I just hope Denly is up to it, he certainly has plenty of experience and I think a right/left combination opening the batting may be an advantage.

Adil Rashid also won't be playing, he's been granted leave to fly home to be with his pregnant wife ahead of the 2nd test. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/47062837It will be interesting to see who is carrying the drinks this time.

Jonny Bairstow moves to a half-century. A very good counter-attacking knock so far. He ticks long to 51 off 59 balls. England 71-4.

Guess we'll know if it's us or the pitch when we get round to bowling later!!

It wasn't a great pitch for sure earlier on, now it looks to have flattened out somewhat or it could just be the ball getting older, difficult to say. Windies have bowled well again today, but I think they bowled better in the first innings at Barbados.
Difficult to judge this too much until both sides have batted, at least England have the right attack for the pitch this time.
