WICKET! Not what England needed straight after lunch. Burns drags that onto off stump and Kemar Roach has a wicket. Burns out for 2, Eng 35-2. WICKET! There's another for Kemar Roach. Jonny Bairstow is gone for 12, looks like it clipped his elbow before it hit the stumps. England 44-3. WICKET! That's a big wicket! Joe Root is trapped lbw by Holder for 4. He thinks about a review but decides against it. England 44-4. Dunno what they had for lunch but not worked out too well so far!
FFS
WICKET! Stokes is given out lbw to Roach. He immediately calls for a review and after going upstairs it stays with umpire's call. Stokes is gone for 0. England 48-5.
WICKET! There's another! Moeen Ali gets a top edge off Roach, it carries all the way down to the boundary where Alzarri Joseph takes a good catch. Eng 48-6.

7 down , Roach 5 wickets, 13 runs
WICKET! There's another one! A bit of bounce and Jos Buttler edges it to the wicket-keeper. Kemar Roach has five wickets in the innings. Buttler gone for 4, Eng 49-7.
Anderson won't be getting much of a rest, bet he wasn't planning of doing much more today!

To be fair, a superb bowling display from the Windies so far, particularly Kemar Roach.
Jennings and Ali out to poor shots, Burns, Bairstow and Stokes unlucky, Root got a beauty from Holder, Buttler did little wrong.
It looks like extra pace is definitely an advantage on this pitch, although Holder is little more than medium pace, just very accurate and effective.

England's batting is well and truly undercooked 😯
Their decision to turn down a 4 day first class competitive match at the start of the tour is looking very silly now 😕

Preparation for tours is a perennial problem for England and, to be fair, other countries too. The test match calendar has been too congested for many years now and needs to be looked at.

61-8, still need to avoid follow on!
WICKET! Joseph gets in on the act. He brings Foakes forwards to one that moves away slightly and Shane Dowrich takes a good catch. Foakes gone for 2, Eng 61-8.

Foakes is the 8th man out, again you can't really call it a bad shot, being very critical maybe his defence wasn't quite as compact as it could have been. Just another good testing delivery in the channel, this time from Joseph.

WICKET! Shannon Gabriel ends Sam Curran's innings. A short ball balloons up off the glove and is caught at gully by Shai Hope. Curran out for 14, England 73-9.
Here comes Jimmy!

Sam Curran is 9th man out, bounced out by Shannon Gabriel.
It would be a surprise were Holder to enforce the follow on, that is England's only real chance of getting out of this mess.

WICKET! An easy catch at second slip for Jason Holder off the bowling of Alzarri Joseph. Rashid gone for 12, England 77 all out.

When Jennings was first man out for 17 you would have got big odds on him being the top scorer.

Windies not enforcing the follow on and will bat again. I bet Jimmy Anderson had a few choice words for the batters!

But then England turn down the opportunity of a 4 day game prior to the start of this first test? Strange decision. I'm with you 100%. It's time test cricket was taken seriously by the powers that be.

WICKET! Brathwaite misses a straight one from Moeen Ali. It raps him on the pad and he's not hanging around. Out for 24, WI 52-1.
WICKET! What a strange dismissal. Stokes falls over as he bowls, the lack of pace does for Campbell who hits it off the toe of his bat to Jennings. Campbell out for 33, WI 60-2.
WICKET! There's another. A simple catch taken by Stokes at slip off the bowling of Moeen Ali. Darren Bravo out for 1, WI 61-3.
WICKET! Sharp catch by Stokes at slip. Moeen Ali the bowler again, finding the outside edge. Roston Chase on his way back without scoring. WI 61-4.
WICKET! What a catch! Stokes finds the inside edge of Shai Hope and it carries to Keaton Jennings who takes the catch. Hope out for 3, WI 61-5.
WICKET! Hetmyer is tempted by a fuller ball but he hits it straight to Buttler who takes the catch off the bowling of Sam Curran. He's out for 31, WI 120-6.
CLOSE OF PLAY. WI 127-6 and lead by 339 with 4 wickets remaining.

You can’t have a batting line up built like this. It is literally one step away from Woakes replacing Anderson - that would be New England way. That said, England can’t do s**t when they lose the toss. They’d have lost in Sri Lanka and also against India. That said, that seems to be the trend at the moment. But that many all out when your number 10 is a better bat than half of the oppositions batsmen. Only England.

The England Lions are also having a dismal tour of India so far...heading for their 4th straight defeat of their tour.

Meanwhile, I see that Alex Hepburn faces a retrial in April. That's 2 years after the original alleged incident took place.

West Indies 227/6
Clearly the pitch isn't a 77 all out one. Pathetic.

Personal landmark for Jason Holder, he's just gone past his previous highest test best of 110...
