30 appearances, 3 assists and 1 goal .
The most disappointing summer signing ?
Only 1 yellow card to his name which backs up the fact he doesn’t even get stuck in . Would imagine he’s on a fair wage , just not good enough for this league I’m afraid .
As I said months ago , what exactly is he ??
Pace - not really Strength - no Tackling - no Shooting - no Passing ability - not great Dribbling - not great Heading - don’t think I’ve ever seen him head it
For me , it’s a toss up between him and gilliead for the most lightweight midfielder I’ve seen in a town shirt for some time .

GobSmacked by those stats. Yes - he is under whelming - looks the part but obviously not doing the business.
For me Gilliead is a player there in the making, just needs to take 1 touch less in most moves. he WILL be an exceptional player in time

For someone who plays at the tip of the diamond those stats, particular assists/goals, are way below what is expected.

I'm still not sure what sort of player he is supposed to be.
As for most disappointing signing, Id say Norburn but that is heavily influenced by him being our record signing.

I actually think Laurent would make a decent full back, perhaps putting him at Left back would solve a few things.

Just looks like no idea what to do in the ball.
Hopefully Edwards will have a quiet word and some advice, guys got a good frame.

He’s crap. He’s had 2 or 3 excellent games & 24 crap ones. A ratio that’s not good enough. I assume he’s coaching Docherty at present too....

What a load of total bo**ocks, always a scapegoat with some of you guys. Pace - who is quicker? He runs with the ball and guys still can’t keep up. Strength - so yellow cards determines strength and getting stuck in does it? Tackling - watch the Sunderland or Stoke game, if you have time watch Doncaster away. Passing - Because he doesn’t look for massive 40 yard balls he can’t pass? Shooting - He has had many shots on target, did you not see his effort against Salford? Dribbling - now you are really just being silly His stats must be one of the highest every week. Playing virtually as a striker at times, being unselfish, chasing everything up top, trying to create room for others. Three different managers that see him everyday think different. He joined us as a CM and has played as a lone striker on occasions and in this diamond shape as the furthest forward, it’s very different. So he’s playing in a different position then what he came as. Just read not sure what kind of player he is supposed to be...I’m guessing nor does he now, he’s played as a CF and left of a 3 up top. It seems to be even the midfield struggles, which I don’t think it has in a while, he gets the blame. By the way I’m not saying he’s been great, but neither have Docherty and Norburn every week, their goal tally is obviously better but not their overall play especially in the last few weeks. We are weak at the back & not great up top, but the midfield which is the best of the thirds gets the blame. I’m guessing since he’s been with us he has 5 MOM, voted for by the rest of the fans, obviously not you and was given the Shropshire Post MOM last week. I personally thought he was very good.

What a load of b******s. A yellow cards means that you have committed a foul, the less yellows the better (that means you are timing your tackles right). You could put me playing for Salop, and I’d pick up more yellows than Laurent, it wouldn’t mean I am a better player. One of the worst arguments I have seen on here from a poster whose posts are always poor. Try and learn something about football, you clearly don’t have a clue.

I think not . He has a footballing brain . Learn something about football?? **** off !! Have you ever seen Laurent make a tackle ? I seriously disagree with your opinion of Arnold . But I’m not going to start calling you a poor poster because of it , it’s your opinion . Looks like you can’t accept other people’s opinions .

Are you for real..? Do you actually go to the games..? Laurent playing top of the diamond, technically the guy is Sunday league... yes he works hard but is absolute garbage and no where near good enough for L1...! The MOM usually goes to super Anthony Grant the guy who plays as an extra centre half most of the time and has perfected the art of looking busy as a def centre mid... the majority of Askeys signings were s**te hence why we are struggling with players who try hard but aren’t good enough for the level we are at...the squad is unbalanced, lacks width, pace (esp across the back 4) and goals (minus a great start to league football for FO)... Ricketts needs to put his stamp on things quickly...

I don't think Laurent, Norburn or Gilliead have been the players we had hoped they would be, they've not had the impact we were hoping for...

Above all else let’s ditch the bloody diamond. Get another winger in to compete with Whalley and Gillead, play Grant as the holding midfielder with Docherty alongside and Fey up front with an upgrade on Amadi Holloway.

After last nights display , I saw the best and worst of josh Laurent , first half , terrible , not involved . Second half , I saw what we all want to see . Grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck , causing problems , linking play , and he got stuck in too which is what a midfielder should do . Hopefully his inconsistency is down to our constantly changing line up/ formation , and he can now kick on and fire us up the table !!

Instead of bickering why don't we just encourage ALL our players to get stuck in for the new manager. We have seen before how someone can look like a dud at Shrewsbury then go on and play at a very high level. It's up to them to forget the past and do it for SR.

Laurent has the physical attributes to be a decent player.
Chopping and changing position every week will not be helping.
And frankly, he needs to get a bit nastier if he is going to make it at this level or higher.
First half he was anonymous. Second half he was magnificent.

In the midfield and after Grant, I am sure he made the most tackles when he was played as a CM in a 3. This nastier label, just means more yellow cards, I get the point, but a player can either tackle or he can't and from what I have seen he can.
